The Furry Capital Of The World

Where would it be and why?

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly not so frequently - I know the London Furmeets get in excess of 100 every meet, which is every three weeks. In terms of the UK, there is no weekly meet that I am aware of.

How has Prop 8 affected the furry community may I ask?

Just SF or all of CA? I hear there is a lot of furs around LA too (sorry for all the acronyms btw :P)

I hear that St Louis is quite a furry city, which is surprising (I don't know why it's surprising, just is). I used to live in the Deep South and I wouldn't have thought that was the most tolerant place for furries.

Catford? Is there a secret commune of cats there that comes out at night and steals everyone's yarn?

Do a lot of furs live in the Atlanta region or do they often treat the city like a holiday camp? I think the furry capital needs a high population of furries living in it.

I must go to the furry con in Atlanta some time - it's ages since I visited the city and I can't remember much about it.

Manchester has certainly exploded recently with furs and the proximity of Liverpool, Preston, Chester and Leeds can only benefit the satellite city. I haven't been to the monthly furmeets but I guess they can go a long way to improving the furry reputation of a city, like they have done in Newcastle. The thing with London is that furries suffer like everyone else does in this country, the media is just far too Southern-centric, as is the job market and opportunities. Again, as Manchester starts rising (which it has done economically in the last few years), I'm sure furries (and other groups) will rise too. See, political debate at 10:50 on a Saturday morning. Marvellous.

Sounds like London prices to be honest - seems like SF and London have many parallels - both in terms of politics and economics, and also the furry scene.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Would you accept the capital would be in the US, where the scene started, or do you believe that the massive scene in the UK and Germany makes those countries contenders? Certainly the UK has the greatest number of furs by area and population density, which gives it a claim.

I wasn't around until 2006 (although I was fur-curious in 2000 and thought it was predominantly an American and London thing back then) so thanks for filling me in on the history :)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Never been, it sounds like London. Just with better weather.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
We're furries - we get sidetracked by ALL those things :P

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Shinies? What shinies?

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
Shiiiiiiiiiinies :)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know how big the NY scene is but like San Francisco, it has a claim to be the cultural capital of America so I imagine that it could be the furry capital too, particularly taking into account the points you make.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
But we need a capital, a base, lest the normals push us back to our dens.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
Eeep. I don't wanna, I don't wanna *shivers*

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Aaargh they're everywhere!!

[identity profile] bariki.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, that'd be too easy to surround and lay seige to. A decentralised operation with good communications stands a much better chance of succeeding.

Oh wait. It has already. ^)^

[identity profile] bariki.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
You can run, but you can't hide. :D

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
Which country shall we take over? We need one that is easy to invade and doesn't put up a fight. I also quite like wine, cheese and bread. Any ideas? :P

[identity profile] starpaw.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
it adores furs, apart from the radio douchbags

[identity profile] starpaw.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
London! fuck london!

"whats wrong with London records"
"well the name for a start!"

[identity profile] starpaw.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
I vote THE INTARWEBS!!

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Radio douchebags? Hmm, how does the general community show their adoration?

[identity profile] selth.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
dragons are stunned by shinies... and lots of furs are too.

[identity profile] selth.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
France? nah, they're not gonna be easy to beat.

mmmh... how about creating an island?

or, like Arcadie... a country that only exist in people's hearts? that's the furry country to me ^.+.^
