Pirate Metal
Heavy metal with a pirate theme? Oh yes!!
I haven't been this excited about a band for ages but any group that has tracks called "Wolves Of The Sea", "Nancy The Tavern Wench" and "Wenches And Mead" has got to be good.
Alestorm are a heavy metal band who play with accordian guitars, sing in pirate voices and go on stage dressed in pirate gear whilst waving cutlesses. They capture the pirate ethos perfectly and the songs are just so damn good - think heavy metal sea shanties, filled with lore and tales of dare and do - and wenches. It's madness but absolutely amazing.
So far, it is definitely my musical discovery of 2009 :D
