The Mascot Gold Cup

I was scheduled to run in the seventh annual Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Racecourse tomorrow but due to a waterlogged track on account of all the rain recently, the event has been postponed. It will be run next month though and although the thought of jumping over hurdles in suit in front of thousands of people and on TV is daunting, I am very much looking forward to it. Plus free trip to the races - even better :)

I've thought for several years I wanted to enter that, but haven't got round to it yet. Nor did I get round to the previous one, Mascot Grand National, I think it was. It's a loooong way to go (and I'm not even sure how I'd get there - nearest stations are miles away!) to run a race I'm sure I'd do badly at and probably wouldn't stand out from the crowd in, but... maybe one day. Also these things tend to have minimum sponsorship levels and such that I wouldn't have a clue how to raise, and I'd have to pass myself off as the official mascot for something! Anyway, good luck with yours! :)

Pity that the weather was so atrocious yesterday, as I would have liked to have seen the race. However, our alternative exploits more than made up for it :)

There is no minimum sponsorship level at this one but it is useful to be affiliated with a charity or be an official mascot if at all possible. I hope you get to do it sometime :)

Well, I do have my own business so could presumably say that I'm its mascot... hopefully no one checks these things too carefully ;) And maybe I'll feel I can actually afford the travelling sometime! Thanks :)
