Whaaaat? When did this happen? Damn, and all I ever managed to try from them was that Brew Buddy No.3 I mentioned a couple months back, down at the Evening Star. Absolutely incredible beer, even if rather uncheap. =:)
we spent a good two hours chatting with him about local beer, finding out interesting new venues to purchase it
Oh, most cool. I should see if I can get the staff at the local good watering hole chatting more - they're usually happy to discuss new and forthcoming offerings. But, as far as buying for home consumption - well, they'll do that, but at pub prices. =:/ Other than them, sadly, the offerings locally aren't stellar - Sainsbury and Morrisons do well enough, but never any local offerings. (Tesco's a scummy company anyway, on a par with Asda for its wholehearted embrace of workfare, and their local beer section is risible) Waitrose have some interesting ones, including local wares, though inevitably that means the selection varies by branch - the one that's slightly closer has several interesting local beers, and still carries the lovely Dunkerton's Black Fox cider, whilst the one I usually go to, as it's on the same bus route as my usual rabbiteering circuit, has a couple fabulous ciders from a small outfit, Tutts Clump, though fewer special ones in the beer section. Still, Good Old Boy from West Berkshire is rather good, and they've started carrying Thornbridge's Chiron (American style IPA) alongside the erstwhile and delicious Jaipur. Oh, if only Middle Farm would set up a mail order operation.. if you're ever in this sector of the country, I'd shamelessly beg to go down there. =:)
