We have enough firepower stockpiled away to launch a blitz against any small-to-medium sized nation on Earth.
Our spies are in every house of state and the highest echelons of every military.

Our order is ancient, with ties to the very origins of civilization. It has been subtly manipulating world events since the start of recorded history.

I guess it is a cavey word, I used it when I study geology - guess its the only connotation that works with the word.
