Back From EF...

...and straight back into work, with all the problems you normally get after taking eight days off. Great.

I must admit it has been great being away from the Internet - from the bitterness, the unhappiness and from the pernicious media - all of which, I feel, drag people down far too much. Conversely, it has been great relaxing and having fun, away from all the pressures of modern living (which I am sure contribuites to the bitterness, unhappiness and pernicious nature of the media).

A more in-depth review of EF is to come but suffice to say thanks to Cheetah and all his staff for laying on a spectacular convention :)

Hear, hear.

Sometimes I think the Internet isn't worth it - there seems to be so much hassle and unhappiness inherent in the communication age, part of me wishes it was the 17th century and I could just lie by the fire.

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
But you can, can't you?

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Live in the 17th century? Could be difficult. My town is quite backward though so there is a chance. Electric fire - hmm, not the same as a roaring log fire.

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, no, you can't live IN the 17th century, but you can live LIKE in the 17th century. Why not just lie by the fire, for instance? Or why not just stop using the Internet, at least for private purposes?

I have this weird quandary where I want to keep in touch with people as I enjoy speaking to people online yet I also get depressed at some of the online activity and unhappiness. It's a weird one.

*noddles* I'm similar.

Do you have much contact with people in real life?

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I try and see people every weekend although my job is extremely restrictive, particularly because I know next to no one in my home town.

I often see my mate once a week though and I do have one or two friends here. The problem is that they are all 25 years old than me at least. Hopefully, when the students return at the end of the month, I may have a few more friends here.

Yay for dis-organized piles of work on your desk, and a few 100 unread emails in your inbox.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
My desk is always dis-organised. Sorted the emails out quite quickly in the end but the shitstorm that was to follow was most frustrating. Harsh words are going to have to be said and I wish it wasn't the case. I am not confrontational by nature but I will fight my corner if I have to. It's looking like now is that time.

Welcome back :) I missed your entries. I am glad you had a nice time at EF and look forward to reading all about it. I hope work turns out okay. Take care.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww thanks hun, didn't realise you thought so much of my entries. EF was excellent - the best week of the year as expected and I am looking forward to next year's :)

yeh.... but that's the great downside of being able to support yourself.... ^_^

---------------------------------------
AMEN TO THAT..... (even if I do end up ignoring most of it)

----------------------
glad you had fun.... it's not nice seeing you down even a little

There are pros and cons to everything I guess - I just wish that the world was happier. The negativity really got me down in August and although I shouldn't let it effect me, it is very difficult.

I had a lot of fun - shame I got back to a pile of problems.

You should take another eight days off. :)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not allowed - I have effectively been banned from taking holidays until May. Great, isn't it? Job hunting will commence soon.

Yay! Lupe's back!
*flying pouncer huggles*

Many awesome things have happened in your absence.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Really, what awesome things have happened? I have read your move with interest and it's good to see you have a supportive flatmate too. Glad to see you again *hugs*

[identity profile] selth.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
nice to have you back!

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks hun *hugs* - hope all has gone well in the last week and a bit :)

[identity profile] doco.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a shame I only bumped into you for the better part of like, five minutes, drunk, hung over and probably rambling incoherently. Next time, remind me to buy you a beer. :) (I still owe Shep one, too.)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2009-09-03 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a massive shame hun - EF does that - you mean to meet loads of people and because you are running around doing loads of cool stuff, you rarely get chance. It was great speaking to you, albeit briefly, and I am sure there'll be a next time :)
