Isoceles Triangles
On the flimsy pretence of trying to find a venue for the Leeds Meet, Wolfie and I went out last Saturday evening on a makeshift pub crawl. We started off at the Japanese Tappen-yaki restaurant that we so love - again we had a range of sashimi, sushi and sake make rather than anything cooked. I love to nibble. There was a sophisticated hen party in, who were having all their food cooked in front of them. The Japanese apologised for their loudness even though they weren't. After this, we headed to a new contential beer bar opposite Leeds Royal Infirmary. They have a delicatessan attached to the bar where you can buy a cheese platter consisting of whichever cheeses you desire. So I did. And the 8% strength beer was great too. A trip to The Reliance soon followed where we met Patter and one of my work colleagues, who came in after putting a hard day's graft in. We had to stand here so we headed off and surrendered to the comfort of the sofas upstairs in the Adelphi. Three great pubs with loads of continental beer. None really suitable for the Meet. But it's great to see the profusion of continental beer these days. Who'd have thought the British could be sophisticated?

Before Adelphi we'd sometimes go to QC, but the less said about that ming-pit and their microwave burgers, the better!

The Adelphi was nice, quite liked it. It was one of those places with character. I also like Bert's crisps ^^

Adelphi's character is a little bit contrived (sort of like students trying to be students) but it still works well all the same :) We need more blends of wooden panels, leather sofas, subdued candles, ales and fairy-lights.

Adelphi is fine, it makes good use of the space really. And the fact it's close by yet also out of the way is part of its appeal.
