Confessions Of A Walker

I have taken up walking recently, utilising the light nights to take a brisk constitutional around our local area in an attempt to lose some weight.

Last night was a wondrous experience. Walking across a field, viewing a shimmering pink sunset with the smell of coal fires creating a sense of olfactory masturbation in my nostrils. It was heavenly. These experiences make life worth living.

Not far from me there's Monckton coke plant, which smells divine.

Still, I deeply miss living in my old little stone village near Skipton. Little in life is better than the smell of coal fires on a brisk freezing winters day.

Walking is in great aid of anybody's efforts to drop a few kilos, and there's a lot to be seen in the area :)

I have to be honest. The first time I read your title I thought it said "Confessions Of A Wanker."

I really need more sleep. :D

I quite often go for an urban stroll of an evening. Sometimes, if I'm having one of my insomnia episodes, I'll go out in the small hours. Suburbia is a strange place at that time of night. Went out at 11pm last night and encountered two urban foxes in the space of five minutes.

I love the smell of coal burning. Near where I live there used to be an old steam winding engine that drove the pit head gear. I remember the "chuff chuff chuff chuff" of the ancient steam engine. I think it was still working in the early 1970`s
