Animals And You
Nov. 19th, 2007 09:01 pmAfter the mission last night I met up with
wolfie_uk and he agreed to drive me back home. We had to stop off for fuel and being the investigative pup that I am I furrowed through the magazine rack whilst he was paying for diesel.
One of the magazines caught my eye as it had the headline "Amazing Huskies" on the cover, accompanied by an adorable picture of a husky running through the snow with his tongue lolling out.
Now I had just spent the whole day being a husky and people had said I was "amazing" so I took this as a sign and bought it (hey MY tongue lolls out too and it snowed on the Moors where I was last night - what more of a sign do you need?!). It turned out to be the Christmas edition of Animals And You magazine.
Well, what can I say? What a find!! Inside there were so many cute pics of huskies it would make any furs heart melt. A lot of them were ickle puppies bounding in the snow, they look so adorable. You also got to find out some exciting husky facts like they are used to herd reindeer and that the first living creature in space was a husky called Larki, sent in 1957. Apparently huskies can never be trusted off a lead either but I am sure that all those who know me would disagree with that hehe.
Further on in the magazine there is a double page spread entitled What's Your Animal Style?. It's a spider diagram where you answer the questions and it shows you what wild creature you are most like. Thankfully mine came up as wolf pretty quickly - making me "great at keeping secrets" and that "people think you're cool and mysterious, just like a wolf!". Hey, who'd have thought such an accurate character profile could be garnered from answering just four questions in a magazine - one of which being "Are you scared of the dark?".
The next section that caught my interest was the one called Extreme Foxes. Here there are some more pics of canids but also some fascinating facts about arctic foxes and fennec foxes. Now I know a couple of arctics and fennecs and I wouldn't describe them as particularly extreme hehe. Having said that I got to find out why both creatures have furry paws and various other fascinating foxy facts.
There are so many other cool sections in here too. Another one tells you how to make a Christmas Dinner For Your Puppy, which is something I may try myself closer to the festive season. There's also a section that gives you advice on choosing a pet, based on cost, convenience and time constraints. Apparently horses are expensive...
This magazine is a great read and I strongly suggest you go to your local newspaper shop and pick up a copy. It was absorbing reading for about ten minutes but the pictures contained within are so huggably sweet and there's loads of cool features in it too. On every page there's a picture of a canid of some kind and of course there are huskies! One even has a purple collar. Yeys! :)
Oh and you even get a free packet of Haribo and a silver glitter pen with it. What more could you want?!
