A Little Post About Collars
Jul. 1st, 2008 05:00 pmWhat does your collar mean to you?
I have been wearing my collar more and more of late. Indeed I do not feel complete without it any more and every time I wear it I experience a supreme sense of pride. This is not only because I am proud to be furry but because my collar and tag also signify that I am owned by Wolfie, my boyfriend, master and the guy I totally adore.
I have always slept in a collar but work and general day-to-day commitments mean that I cannot wear it 24/7 as I would like (furmeets have at least given the confidence to wear my collar out in public more but if I did that alone in the streets of Middlesbrough, I dread to think what would happen).
Although my collar represents the master/pet bond that I have with Wolfie, I know that other furs wear collars for other reasons too. A collar is certainly one of the badges of the Fandom and before joining eighteen months ago, I had wanted to wear a collar all the time anyway (I had visions at University of me walking around the streets of Cambridge wearing a collar). Whether this was due to an innate submissiveness or a spiritual association with canids I don't know, but it always felt right. And now, since joining the Fandom, it feels even more natural. I just wish I *could* wear it all the time...
