The Leeds Meet
Apr. 26th, 2010 10:20 pmHow great a day is is often related to the company you are with rather than what you do. The Leeds Meet on Saturday proved this as I had an excellent time, even though we did nothing out of the ordinary. Revs was a standard bar whose only purpose seems to be to get people drunk on vodka sticks whilst bowling is just bowling. I stayed in the bar and watched St Helens v Leeds trying to fathom how the hell rugby is played whilst others played pool or whatever it is the young kids do nowadays. Greskil showed us his pawpet - very impressive - and we all retired to Nandos for some disappointing chicken that was far spicier than they said it was going to be. No cheese on my burger also made me sad but the sweet mash was nice. But I digress. And Wolfie got egged in the eye whilst standing at a crossing so I guess that makes him a bit like David Cameron but without the irritating smugness. Excellent shot from the prick in the pimped up Vauxhall though - it's amazing how hard you can be when you are driving 40mph away from somewhere. Broken Britain? Broken eggshells certainly. The egg splattered yolk on the back of someone's jacket too, it looked like someone had snotted on it.
The excellent conversations with good friends, top stone-baked pizza action with cheese and BBQ sauce, delicious double sausage and cheese wraps from Ditsch, and lots of drink (Guinness alternating with Diet Coke) made for a really great day. As did the political discussion with Graafen, Sammy and Aremay, our very own excitable Peter Snow. He even brought his colour coded constituency maps with him (it was like a political paint by numbers) and we had a three hour missive on the political system and the forthcoming election (which is very exciting and is giving me overtime at work so I don't want it to end). Shame I couldn't make the Sunday due to work but everyone waved at me whilst they went past my office on the bus. Sadly, I didn't see them :(
P.S. I also got ice cream with teddy bear wafers in it. TWO teddy bear wafers!! Yeys!!!
