We have just got back from seeing Dara O'Briain's stand-up show at the Leeds Grand Theatre and he was one of the best comedians I have ever seen. For the entire first half I couldn't stop laughing, with tears rolling down my face. The second half lightened up a bit but it was still fantastic - particularly his 2012 reference regarding Pudsey, which is where I now live. There was a good mix of audience banter, improvised material and prepared work and the two and a half hours certainly felt a lot shorter than they actually were. He hardly ever swore, did generally clean but hilarious observational humour and he held the audience on his every word. An excellent showman and a fantastic evening was had.

The majority of his stuff was new material - with only the computer games section having been aired before (on Charlie Brooker's excellent Gameswipe show). If you are a fan of Mock The Week, or stand-up comedy in general, I strongly urge you to get his DVD. Tonight's show was his last, and 149th, show of the tour and he went out with a bang. As much as the Thanksgiving fireworks which interrupted the performance and made us think we were an audience full of pilgrims.

And on the way home, we saw a fox nonchalently crossing the road in front of our bus. Yeys!!
