I think Dylan Moran is at his best in full flow indignation mood, ranting about the trivialities of life whilst injecting a surrealist bent. Sadly, apart from the encore, the current Yeah Yeah tour has little of that.

That's not to say it wasn't a good performance. Some of the topics discussed were right on the money but it wasn't a rollercoaster of laughs, more hilarious anecdotes punctuated by further talking. Still, when he was good, he was very good, and the bizarre artwork on screen behind him created a fascinating creative scene. I ended up watching Black Books too when I got home, which I thought was most apt. Good night but not the best comedian I have seen would be my verdict. Also Yeah Yeah is not as strong as the other two tours I have seen from him but worth seeing if you can. I am also sure is current lack of foppy hair is part of the problem. I can be so fickle.

Afterwards, we went to La Tasca as I had gone to the show straight after work without eating. I have always liked tapas and even though this chain is quite generic, the food was alright. Plus not many places serve food at 10pm on a Sunday. As the weather was clement and warm, we sat outside on the terrace, marvelling at Fifties office block architecture. This is probably why we don't have a cafe culture in the UK although the many new restaurants on this street suggests we are at least trying. Good food, a tad expensive but a good way to end an evening.

The Sheffield Meet on Saturday was an interesting one. The vast majority of people I didn't know but it was great getting to know some of them in the warm summer sun. Ye Olde Queen's Head is a great venue with excellent beer - I had the blonde Crowd Pleaser which really should be called Puppy Pleaser. Wainwright was also another fine tipple and I spent most of the day educating Dougal on beer. Sadly his Magic Roundabout friends weren't present although Wolfie does do a mighty fine Zebedee impression. You should ask him to do it sometime.

One thing I noticed about the Meet was how lacking in furry ephemera it was - it looked very much like a general meeting of disparate people. The bus driver convention over the way was more conspicuous. Not many collars or fursuits either, just convivial chatter, which is no bad thing of course. There was some nice table hopping going on too meaning it was very easy to meet people. It was a very pleasant atmosphere.

Afterwards a group of us went to The Devonshire Cat, former Meet venue and gastric pub extraordinaire. This place is like a treasure trove to me with so many fine ales to try. The homemade pork pies and fish and chips (with minted mushy peas) are also to die for. A drunk lady amongst us kept flashing her chest whilst we all got blamed for her inebriated state despite the fact she is 34 and clearly in control of her own actions. She wasn't doing the blaming but I still find the whole incident quite extraordinary.

We ended the evening talking to a reiki hypnotist enthusiast who wanted to find out more about furry. She seemed genuinely interested in our little group and it was great to educate her. A handful of us told her our stories and she seemed genuinely delighted to speak to us. I love chatting to random people so it was a great way to end the day.

Sadly, we actually ended the day rather badly as both Wolfie and I regretted the McDonald's cheeseburger we ate on out way home. Not good at all. Sickness ensued.
