It's Not About The Money, Money, Money
Sep. 21st, 2011 08:20 amThis is the third week in a row I have done my commute in rush hour, at peak times. I have too much work on at the moment to enjoy the luxury of later starts.
I like the fact that the bus company charges peak rate for an inferior service. Frequently crowded, more likely to be late (due to traffic and the sheer volume of people getting on and off) and also their sheer inability to put suitably large buses on the route means squashed standing room only. Three times already I have had a bus drive past my stop because it was full, leaving me to wait for the next one - why can't they schedule more buses into the timetable? Thankfully I don't have set hours at work - if I did I would surely be fired by now.
The cost of commuting I can live with as it's far cheaper and more convenient than a car for me. It's just traveling at this hour is immensely frustrating. But then if I want to get back home at a reasonable time (by which I mean 6.30pm rather than 8.30pm), I guess I will just have to live with it.
