The Unrelenting Dreariness
Oct. 13th, 2011 08:13 amWhat a grey and dreary day! I cannot think of a country with so much dreary weather. The commuters are annoying, people are rude, the bus has broken down, yep I am definitely back in England.
The friendliness I have experienced across the world seems to run out here. Perhaps I need to make more of an effort myself - surely Britons are equally as engaging and warm as everyone else. It's just something that seems to be far harder to access. And I must learn to be less stressed by the little day-to-day annoyances - this probably doesn't help. The holiday attitude definitely taught me that.
Furthermore, on my journey home from Luton yesterday, there was loads of stuff that didn't work - vending machines, soap dispensers in public toilets, it all seems so second rate. Am I picking faults too easily? Perhaps I expect too much of this country.
I am going into work now. I am ridiculously tired despite my nine hours sleep. I am looking forward to work even though I know it's going to be a busy day. I am going to need an awful lot of tea today I think.
