Fisting Sooty

It's the Leeds Meet on Saturday, my first meet in four months. I won't be at the Manchester one next month so this weekend's offering will be my only meet in half a year. Wow, I used to go to all of these.

In all honesty I feel I am distancing myself from the Fandom. I just don't have the enthusiasm for furry that I once did. The LJ diaspora has clearly highlighted who my true friends are and I rarely have the time or inclination to be online any more. This is largely because IMs are too much like my professional life and I struggle to make small talk. Finding common interests is also extremely tough in all honesty and, well, I am
approaching my Thirties when it starts to look a little weird if you hang around with teenagers.

My inability to go to EF next year isn't phasing me either, I am not too fussed. I see all the enthusiasm other people have for the community and wish I could share in it. But I can't. It doesn't feel right. It hasn't for a while.

Despite my fall in popularity, thankfully I do have some excellent friends, mainly you guys reading this. So thanks for being most excellent and I hope to see you soon. My social life has shifted to more intimate meets with closer friends and this is no bad thing. No, things have changed but they have also got better. Perhaps a smaller furry presence is the next step to take. Popularity is shit without true friends.
