We are currently in the middle of the Leeds meet double header which happens every April and October. This has caused some consternation amongst other meet organisers but it is effectively a combination of the regular monthly meets coupled with the vestige of the old Northern furs rotation. York, Chester and Liverpool already seem to have dropped out of this rotation but we will probably stick to it this year, even if what tends to happen is that the same number of people are spread over two meets. We've already discussed this with the Sheffield crew and with five weekends in October, and the main meet falling on Halloween, clashes can easily be avoided.

Unfortunately this is not the case in April but people had already made arrangements to come prior to our organizing it, so we are going ahead with it. The weather should be good and the furry shots should return, except now we are expecting them to be there for EVERY meet going forward rather than just the "main" ones. We also hope to have the TV screens working again (although they are currently broken) while snacks should also be displayed. Either way I'm hoping it will be a good weekend, like last Saturday was, when we got exceptional sunny weather and a well-attended walk of 15 fursuiters. In all honesty, the walk was lacking something, particularly as it was so hot with little breeze (making suiting difficult) and largely because there was little public interaction, with people just laying about and soaking up the sunshine. Two hours in suit was enough for me, unaccustomed as I am in recent months to these temperatures, and I soon got back to drinking and chilling.

It was a good social meet although I did deviate away from my plan of one alcoholic drink to one soft drink. Still, Dead Pony Club is a good session beer at just 3.8% and calorie -wise better than soft drinks if you remove the synthetic tasting diet ones. After the meet, we went with Suburban to Sukothai along with seven others including Graafen, Jenner, Geo and Arctic Steve. Judge James was there too and it was great getting to know him better, along with discussing his home city of Glasgow. We should pay the Glasgow furs a visit. A lot of the general talk was about Confuzzled, with the associated hype starting to become a little annoying, but our end of the table had an engaging conversation over some of the best Thai food in the city. Sadly, our favourite Thai place on Briggate has closed down but Sukothai could be a very good replacement. I'm a sucker for coconut rice and coconut milk flavoured curries and this meal didn't disappoint.

We went to Sukothai as recently I've been a little frustrated that we have been going to the same places over and over. Another example was Arc's crew going to Bird and Beats post-meet. While I like this bar, I've drank everything of interest there and cocktails are generally very overpriced for what you get. Instead, Stray, Markus, Luna and Rushy joined us at The Office, a bar selling a range of Spanish beer underneath a tapas restaurant where OK Karaoke used to be (sadly we never went to the karaoke here, in five years of saying that we should). The Spanish beer was the typical fizzy lager stuff but the barman was a nice guy, who spoke to us in broken English. He gave us free nuts and his mate at the bar who was very much like Khakidog was interested in Untappd, which I told him all about. I like bars where you just start chatting to random people and it was exceptionally quiet for a Saturday night as it's near the CBD. A good post-meet venue perhaps as we do struggle to get into bars late at night. After this, we swung by Atlas, a venue we had only visited once before and that was a while back. Again, this was quite quiet with a long range of drinks, meaning we drank well beyond last buses and had to call a taxi home. Still, amongst six of us, it was quite cheap and a sign of an excellent day.

The only other thing to add is that I have bought some more shares in BrewDog this week as part of the fourth iteration of their Equity for Punks scheme. This means I have shares from EFP II, III and IV. Being a shareholder does give you discounts in their bars and online shop so I think it's worth it, regardless of the fact the value of my shares has rocked in the last four years. You can buy shares now if you are interested - details are on their website. If you do invest, please use my referral code R064071 as I get cool stuff too ^^
