The weather on Sunday was even better than it had been the day before, but like on Saturday, we had evening plans which restricted what we could do during the day. In this case, it was Entei-rah's birthday and he had invited us for a meal at Fazenda to celebrate. This was booked at 5:15pm giving us most of the day free, so I decided to take advantage of the sunshine and go for a walk in nearby woodland. Indeed, it was great being out and about in the countryside, with Pudsey Beck a pleasant place for a stroll. Listening to all of the country noises, such as the birds tweeting and the hedgerow strimmers evoked powerful memories of my youth, and indeed seeing the cows and little lambs in the fields as I walked past was quite powerful. As Wolfie wanted to polish his car, he spent most of the afternoon working in the garage, leaving me alone but it was a pleasant way to spend an hour and a half, just lost in one's thoughts. There were a few noisy dog walkers, particularly near the golf course, but I largely had the place to myself and was able to roam freely along paths, some of which I had walked down before and others of which were quite new to me.

After the walk, I called off at Sainsbury's to pick up Ent's card, with me writing a story in it as soon as I got home. After Wolfie had showered following his car work, we then headed into town, taking the bus as we read that our route would not be affected by the Tour de Yorkshire. Due to this and Leeds United being at home, the city centre was quite rammed, while there seemingly was a large number of people who were just enjoying the sunshine. I always find cities a little claustrophobic when it's warm and the lack of decent beer gardens in Leeds would see me go elsewhere, but it was pleasant enough down by the canal side, where we observed nearly every bar and piece of grass verge was teeming with people. We waited outside Fazenda and Ent, Angela and Adia soon arrived, with the five of us deciding to check out Candlebar as we felt it may not be too busy. We were generally right as there were quite a few spare tables inside, although getting a drink did prove to be quite an endeavour. Still, it killed the half hour we had ahead of the meal and soon enough it was time to go back to Fazenda and feast on the meat.

I have been to Fazenda a few times and have always left bloated, largely due to the fact I have no self-control what with the unlimited range of excellent food on offer. I did try to pace myself and largely did a good job of this, trying nearly all of the succulent cuts of meat on offer. I only went to the salad bar once and didn't fill up too much on bread and cheese, which proved to be quite useful going forward. Still, the temptation was still strong and on a number of occasions, I succumbed, trying food that I didn't really need to it. Still, I suppose I got my money's worth and in the end it was an excellent meal out with friends with whom I don't get to spend too much time these days. It was certainly worth it.

The city centre was still rammed as we left an hour and a half later, particularly around the Queen's Court area, which inexplicably had people queueing around the block to get into it. Racking my brains, I thought that Sid's Little Egg opposite the Adelphi may not be too busy and so it proved to be, with the barlady telling me that everyone was after beer gardens so this indoor pub had been rather quiet. We sampled a few really good Abbeydale beers here and repented that we hadn't been here for something like three years, when it opened. The range of beer is actually quite good, but there is always somewhere better and it is a little out of the way. Still, we did resolve to come back again, particularly if they get their decking area sorted out, which I suggested should be placed above the car park out back as parking has become a huge reason why they are unable to do it. With riverside frontage, it would be silly not to.

Everyone went their separate ways after this, with Wolfie and I heading to BrewDog as Wolfie still had a Punk IPA to claim, this being the last day he was able to do so. We didn't feel much like drinking after the food and I had already had all the beers they had on tap, but we thought it a shame to waste Wolfie's free beer. We spent an hour in here before resolving to head home, only to find Wolfie needing the toilet pretty swiftly en route to the bus stop. Thinking of where was best in the vicinity, we settled upon Bundobust, where Wolfie did his business and I bought a drink for the privilege. Here we saw a range of interesting beers on draft so we ended up staying for another hour, sampling a few rather unique ales. I didn't regret this too much considering the excellent beer on draft, but we were trying to save money and this through something of a spanner in the works. Now having a taste for beer, we ended up getting one of the last buses back, the number 16 as the number 4 just had a time written on the board which tends to mean it's not coming. Upon getting back to Pudsey, we noticed there was another ten minutes until Rudy's Bar closed so we grabbed a swift half of Daleside there before heading home, far more inebriated than we had intended to be. Still, it had been a great day though.
