Neapolitan

I had huge fears going into the Meet yesterday as there was no social media buzz whatsoever, coupled with there being a cosplay event in Sheffield which I thought would take numbers away. I do think we have a problem with promoting the meet, but this certainly didn't affect the attendance yesterday, which was significantly higher than I thought it would be. Indeed, we are getting people coming from as far afield as Sunderland and Nottingham now, which is great to see, and all of the positive feedback from yesterday was very rewarding. Granted we did have yet more problems with our hedgehog friend, but this didn't overshadow anything, while the walk was another success on account of it being at City Beach. August's meet is always one of my favourites because of this event, which sadly is somewhat smaller now as it's no longer in Millennium Square but outside the library. Still, we got some fursuiters on the caterpillar rollercoaster, which caused some merth, while everyone else just hung around the green carpeted picnic area and interacted with the public. Some of the furs headed up to the recycled junk play space, but the lady there was none to pleased with us so we left pretty quickly.

People started drifting away from the Meet at around 5pm, but we stayed later as the Sunderland people hadn't arrived in time for the walk. We decided to give them the opportunity of suiting outside of the venue for a while, and indeed hijinks outside proceeded on the account of a 24 litre box of popcorn that someone had bought for £3, largely on account of it being three months out of date. It was still good though, although became less good when one of the furs was upended and buried his head in the popcorn, such was his request.

As the Meet was closing, I took the opportunity to go and get some more cans of Neapolitan IPA from Little Leeds Beer House for Wednesday's Beer Tasting Panel at EF, while shortly after this, we headed to find some food. I wanted to go down to Northern Monk because they had a tap takeover as part of Leeds Beer Week, most of which we are frustratingly missing due to being in Berlin. There were only four of us in our party - Wolfie, me, Patter and Dexter - but as we traversed through town, we kept bumping into numerous furs, including Jay's group and Seadragom, who was heading back to the station. Even in MOD Pizza, where we ended up for food, we bumped into Tonks's posse before we settled down for some much-needed food.

After this, we headed over to Northern Monk, where we sat outside such was the warmth of the evening. It was a really good vibe, aided by the company dog Mo, who was having lots of fun with a tennis ball as we arrived. As the night wore on, we realised that she really liked the sandpit at the end of the beer garden, with Wolfie and I having lots of fun playing a game where we kicked sand one way and then the other, watching her run from side to side. The beers themselves - from Other Half, Threes and KCBC - were exquisite too and we ended up sampling seven in total, with the latter being the very first Patrons' Project from Northern Monk. The two Other Half beers, the first of which we snaffled the last batch of, were exemplorary and it was great to have done at least one of the LBW events as we are going to miss so many of them due to being away. We also met Ted, one of the former bar staff at Brewdog who now works over at Northern Monk, and it was great catching up with him. Patter and Dexter headed off at about 10pm, with us staying for one more, which became two as Wolfie wanted to play with the dog some more. This was fine as we still made it for last bus after what had been a long but rewarding day.
