Tonight was the first coffee meet of the year, postponed from last Tuesday as it was New Year's Day. I am always delighted with the popularity of these events, with the 16 furs in attendance making it the biggest yet. I did feel a little on edge throughout for some reason, and this is often the case at the coffee meets for some reason, but I certainly had a good time catching up with the likes of Oracle, Seadragom and Adia, who were all in attendance. The tea was quite bitter this time, me having to accept loose leaf black tea since they have changed their menu, but I only had one pot and no cake in an attempt to lose weight.

This was furthered at Almost Famous, where Wolfie and I just shared one portion of fries with our respective burgers. We chose Almost Famous after a Leeds Team Chat poll, with a number of places doing special midweek offers throughout January. This meant that the burgers were 50% off and thus cost about £5 each, a considerable saving that meant each meal was about £12 in total. There were seven of us at the meal - Cosmo, Seadragom, Oracle, TLO, Wolfie, myself and a quiet long haired guy who didn't say anything. I kept nipping to the toilet, particularly out of poor bladder control and partly out of awkwardness, as well as the need to check the latest Brexit voting in Parliament. Still, it was a decent enough meal and I'm glad I went.

The only other thing that has happened today is I have applied for my new passport, which is due to run out in November. Needing six months on it to go to most countries I intend to visit (not to mention EU ones depending on how Brexit turns out) meant that I had to renew by May anyway and I would rather have the words 'European Union' on it than not, not to mention that now is a handy two-month window when I won't be going abroad anyway. With a three week turnaround time, I am hoping I'll get my new passport by the end of the month, which will be nice. I opted for the bumper 50 page affair as I've only got three blank pages left in my current one, and if we are to get stamps every time we enter an EU country, I see my new passport filling up rather quickly. Of course, all of this is in the air, but I thought it better to be prepared than not.
