It may have come three weeks late, but last night, Leeds was finally put into more restrictive lockdown measures. This means we'll be under the same rules as Stray has been in Manchester since July, and Taneli and Arcais had faced throughout all of August. While I accept this is necessary due to the rising number of COVID cases, I am also incredibly concerned about the potential knock-on effects on air travel as we are scheduled to leave for Berlin in six weeks time. With the transition period ending at the end of the year a hard deadline, I am starting to worry that we are going to be trapped here. However, as yet, no-one has been talking about curtailing travel so I have to hope for the best and keep an eye on the situation. However, not being able to see friends and family is going to be tough, particularly as October through December are always the most depressing months anyway. The weather is turning colder, the nights are drawing in, and my mental health is deteriorating. We are also having the common battle of this time of year - whether we put the heating on or try and eke it out for a few more days - I think today will be the day we relent. I am not sure I can last through these horrendous months this year with nothing to look forward to, so I just have to hope that the Berlin move comes off. Right now, I am aware of a lot of the administrative things we need to do, such as telling our mortgage provider, council and utilities, but it's all too early right now. With the German side not being arranged until two weeks' time, right now all I can do is sit tight and hope for the best.
Zoom calls make poor substitutes for face-to-face contact, but it was great speaking to Adia and Entei-rah on Wednesday evening. We seem to be doing these two-hour chats every three weeks and they're really nice, even though I now lament that our proposed walk to McDonald's next week to see Adia won't happen, nor will a trip to visit Ent either considering Stockport has just introduced the same measures as Leeds. It has been fun talking with them though, and I suspect this is going to contiune more into the future. However, we must be careful we don't fill every single night with events as this week was incredibly busy. In addition to the Adia/Ent chat, on Thursday I joined the Remainiacs and The Bunker live stream, which saw discussion about the current horrendous state of British politics. There was cause for optimism, particularly on the potential for a transition period extension even at this late stage, but it was largely an evening of drowning our sorrows and despairing about the state of the country. So pretty much like every day then.
There are two things I am considering discontinuing going forward - the Tuesday evening pony chats and Gothicat's Wednesday evening set. The former are starting to become something of a millstone around my neck, particularly now that Blacksnip has bowed out, as it means I have to host the things and end up having to steer conversation. At 11pm and a hard day at work, this is quite a challenge, and I do struggle to conduct such a disparate group at times. Furthermore, they are just not that popular any more, with last Tuesday seeing no-one turn up. This parallels with a few other of the pony chats this month when it has just been me and Shadow, so it seems interest is waining. And with the Sunday events still proving reasonably popular, then I think I'll just stick with those, at least until when we move. As for Gothicat's DJ set - I just don't like the music being played on a Wednesday, so I am starting to think this set is not for us. The Friday night rock set, this week moved to Thursday due to Gothicat's weekend plans, is still a barnstorming evening and a great opportunity for Wolfie and I to put it on the loud speaker, sharing the experience as we share some beers. However, the dance and cheese stuff on a Wednesday is less my thing. Still, there is a really nice community there and it's great to check in and chat with peeps I wouldn't otherwise get to chat to.
Work is going reasonably well, with movement both on the website and the bank account this week. Indeed, I am hoping to get the former sorted out this weekend and the latter resolved by mid-October. There have been no new contracts signed this week, but there has been some interest and we are starting to grow in other areas too. I am quite optimistic regarding how things are going. It has been incredibly busy though, with a number of events to attend as well as meetings to discuss things, meaning I have struggled to do anything else this week beyond my walk and Animal Crossing. This means my guitar has remained unplayed for three weeks and I have learned no German outside of Duolingo. Regarding AC, I'm still only doing the basics, although I did replace Amelia with Wolfgang the wolf through Arcais's ambio. I felt sad for Amelia when doing this, particularly as she started to cry when packing up her stuff, but I have to realise she is just a digital character. I am far too soppy at times. Still, Wolfgang has settled in nicely, so there is that.
Wolfie and I are going reasonably well - we have been back sleeping together this week due to the colder weather making the upstairs more suitable for me. There are still issues on the sex and BDSM side of things, but both of us have been terribly busy. The issue is, though, that we always seem to be so we never seem to make any time for this sort of thing. It's starting to become a real pscyhological problem for me, in all honesty. Still, with Wolfie out yesterday working until 10pm, and having a full-time job and a load of other projects too (including kindly making me a pony harness), maybe I am asking too much. There is an awful lot on, after all.
