Nicht Mal Ich
May. 8th, 2022 10:25 pmWe had planned to go to Qualgeist on Monday evening, but as it was Wolfie's first full day back, he wanted to spend some time with me in a different setting. Consequently, we ended up watching both Monsters Inc and Monsters University, with the former being a little too tentacley for me. They were both wholesome stories though and sharing a few beers from the Northern Monk March beer box was a nice way to get reacquainted considering I hadn't seen Wolfie for two weeks due to his passport situation. We had then intended to go to Qualgeist on Tuesday and Thursday, but on Tuesday Wolfie didn't get up until late and on Thursday, I ended up having to work late, meaning that we didn't get the opportunity. Going last night was always going to be a long shot and although we did consider it, we were both too tired to contemplate it seriously. I do fear my fetish side is starting to become unfulfilled but with Lorna coming around next Tuesday, hopefully we'll get to do something before we go back to the UK. Hopefully. She was going to come to Qualgeist on Monday too but cancelled at the last minute due to tiredness, which resulted in our lack of motivation to go.
Saturday was our first serious furry day out of the year as we headed over to Ahrensfelde to go mini-golfing. This was about as far away from where we live as possible, necessitating an hour and thirty minute journey, but ultimately it was worth it, if only to meet some new furs. We arrived just before 1pm, noticing a few furs already heading into the mini-golf area. Trax had rented the playroom just above the ticket office and restaurant, which served as the perfect place to get changed into fursuit. There were about 15 of us in total, including a few we had not met before. Superfloof, one of my Barq friends, was one of them and it was great to finally meet. I am quite new to that furry-themed social network and he just contacted me out of the blue, so it was good to make a new acquaintance. The same was true of Italian furry Planke, who I added to the Fureigners chat as the afternoon went on. He is a political science student and it was great debating various aspects of political theory with him. He wasn't initially in our team of four for the golfing, which consisted of Wolfie, me, Superfloof and Kai, but he joined our group halfway through and stuck it out with us.
This was the first time I had fursuited in December, and the first time in public since October, so it was strange to be Lupe again. Before donning the suit, Trax assembled all of the heads on the bannister above the stairs before taking a picture. Then, it was time to get changed, after which we congregated outside to be put into teams. Each team got a putter and a ball each and then we were let loose. Alas, due to the popularity of the golf course, we couldn't do the holes in order, so we just lept onto the ones which were free. All the while, a number of the regular patrons looked on in bemusement, while the kids generally loved us. I didn't do too badly with the golfing - I fluffed up the first two holes we played, but I started to get my eye in, ending proceedings with a pretty average but pretty respectable 61. Wolfie, who was the only one of us not in fursuit, hit not much less although he said he wasn't really trying. A number of the holes were more challenging than others, and I was surprised with just how well I did. I also wasn't too competitive in the end, but sometimes my competitive side did make an appearance. Fortunately, I could rein it in pretty easily. Halfway through, Blackie turned up in his military uniform, looking incredibly smart. It was good seeing him again, even though we had only just met the night before.
Afterwards, I was quite famished as we did three hours of suiting, a long time but not long enough to complete the course. Indeed, we only ended up doing 14 of the 18 holes available. As I changed, Wolfie bought me a Magnum ice cream as it was 4pm and I had only eaten toast all day. After this, and some more general chilling, we headed down to Zhou's Five, a Chinese restaurant at Ostkreuz. Unfortunately, I had a bit of a panic as some of us, incluidng me, had to get the tram down there while a few others drove. Kai kindly looked after my fursuit in his car, but once he had departed, I realised I had left my mask in my bag. Normally, I would have my mask in my coat, but the weather was so good that it was just a T-shirt day. This meant I panicked and tried to get my bag back, but alas they were all en route to the restaurant. Trax suggested I should risk the tram without wearing a mask, but I didn't want to break the rules. Fortunately, there were open shops nearby and as masks aren't mandatory in them, I could go shopping. Netto didn't have any, but the kind lady at the till suggested Aktion on the other side of the mall, and fortunately they could oblige. Crisis averted.
As a result of all this, we were about 15 minutes late to Zhou's Five, but the booking was for two hours and Trax and co hadn't started. We soon settled in, and enjoyed this pretty standard Chinese buffet place. I grabbed spring rolls and noodles for starters, before going for their exquisite Mongolian BBQ for a main. This involved putting some raw meat and vegetables on a plate and affixing a peg with our table number written on it to the side of the plate. You then put it on a counter for the chefs to took, and they deliver it to your table. It was basically just BBQ but it was pleasant enough. I had rice with some pretty runny sweet and sour sauce with it, along with a salmon roll of sushi with the runniest wasabi I have ever seen. The dessert of chocolate and vanilla pudding was pretty standard. I ended up succeeding in not eating too much, and left feeling reasonably sated, but not too bloated. Trax then fancied some cider so we stopped off in Home Bar for one, before waving goodbye to everyone. Planke was the last one to leave, declining our offer for him to join us in Braugier, where we had a final beer outside on a warm spring evening. I love this city for sitting outside at this time of year. Indeed, it was a great day overall but again I had pangs of guilt about not being more accomplished in German. I tried, but ultimately the day was predominently conducted in English and I still feel a little bad about it. Alas, I also fear that due to the Anglophone nature of this city, my German will never become good enough.
We sat outside on Friday evening too as we headed down to Tipperary in Wedding. We had been meaning to try this place for a long time, since last December when Blackie and I went down there only to discover it was closed. It wasn't on Friday, and after scouting out the venue where I need to go for my immigration interview on Tuesday, which was about ten minutes' away, we arrived at Tipperary around 40 minutes early. Blackie was at a church benefit concert for Ukrainians and although we had been invited, its 7pm start made it difficult with work. He had expected it to finish around 9pm, but it went on half an hour later, meaning it wasn't until 9:50pm by the time he joined us. Due to the residential area in which the bar is situated, we had to move inside at 10pm, but at least we could enjoy our first two drinks in the dying sun. The Kilkenny Red Ale in particular was good, while once moved inside, we moved on to the pretty standard Guinness. It was great catching up with Blackie again, along with his Kosovan neighbour Alf, with whom I could speak a little about my visit to his country. However, he did look a little like a fish out of water and after nursing a half pint of Guinness excused himself after a short while. We ended up having one last pint, our fifth of the evening, as Blackie got increasingly talkative, before splitting around 1am. It was great seeing him and going to the bar, but on the way home, Wolfie and I had a mild argument and my self-harming came back. Indeed, Note noticed my scars on Saturday and enquired as to what they were, as I foolishly did them on my lower arm. Still, it's all sorted now and I know I just need to be careful with alcohol as I am despeate to lose weight so as to improve my mental health. I cannot be a hermit either though, so it's all about getting the balance right.
Aside from that, it's been much the same this week. The temperatures are getting hotter, which is already starting to make the flat somewhat unbearable, while Wolfie has applied for four jobs in the last week. Hopefully he'll get one of them and, more importantly, it'll be a job he likes. Meanwhile, my job situation drones on with no real change, although I am still hopeful for improvement. When I'm back in the UK the week after next, I am really going to have to affect this.
