All things considered, the food thing is more an annoyance and easily dealt with. At least in the states. Just walk or drive to the nearest "Denny's" restaurant or other fast food place. Then also, there's always a nearby convenience store. Even convenience store prices are a better deal than the hotel offerings.
On the getting up and out each day, I just HAD to get in suit and get out. I even went to most of my panels I attended in fur. I was not the only one either in almost every case. I'd get up, dress in my clothes and go down to the con-provided computers with net access. Spend about a half-hour there sending E-mails to friends, the back up to room to get into fur. Most of day was spent walking up and down and all around. Mixing and mingling all the day long.
