The Deepest Meloncholy

The last three days have been torture. Really dark, depressing days, like I experienced ten years ago. I am not too sure why although I am sure politics, the weather and my current circumstances have been playing a part.
I guess I am also concerned about my health. I have been having sporadic chest pains since January but yesterday's episode was one of the worst I have experienced. It tends to happen when I am stressed but it's gone past something I can dismiss as mere twinges. It's happening too regularly these days and even though it's intermittent and irregular, it is something I am worried about.
My current thinking is pulled chest muscles as I wear my laptop satchel like a naughty schoolboy, slung across my right shoulder. I got my laptop in February, which would roughly coincide with when this pain started. I think the way I carry the computer is producing strain on the left side of my body, perhaps resulting in a trapped nerve as I attempt to counter-balance the weight.
However, the pain is too close to my heart to risk remaining ignorant for much longer. I have never been the healthiest person in the world - I have been overweight since the age of six - but I wouldn't say I was obese (and neither would my BMI) and I do exercise every day. Aside from perhaps drinking a little too much, my diet is generally good too. And even after strenuous activity, I do not get this pain so I am hoping it's muscular rather than vascular.
Still, I really should go to the doctor's to get checked. I will make an appointment tomorrow morning (because for some silly target-based reason dreamt up by the last government, it would appear you can only book an appointment at eight o'clock in the morning). Hopefully all will be well.
