I am drunk and eating pink Smarties - the best kind of Smarties :-)

I remember when the blue ones came out...

They were out, then they were banned (due to some EU colouring rule I believe) and then they were brought back again I think. I like the blue ones too but they all taste the same to me, apart from the orange ones.

And they also have huge 170g tubes with only the blue ones in too, like the one I got with only pink ones in :)

Lucky bastard. I'm having to cut way back on alcohol as I suspect I have a bloated liver due to some pains I'm having in the liver region. Even if it's not my liver a good few weeks of non-alcohol can't be wrong...

I should cut back on alcohol due to a bloated belly but alas I can't stop from being tempted back to it. I genuinely fear I am borderline alcoholic as I want to resist it but I never can. I had the liver thing once too - it did resolve itself after a few weeks of detoxification.

I have always felt quite disappointed with the Smarties chocolate bar - don't think you get a lot of Smarties for your money. These Smarties are all pink and there is an all blue one too - fantastic - you should try the delights of Smarties again sometime :)

Humm. Wikipedia says the brown ones were replaced by blue smarties in 1988?

Never mind that I remember the blue ones coming out, I remember the brown ones plain as day! Have they really been gone over 20 years? Damn :(

Date: 2009-02-18 02:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com
Nah that's not right - the brown ones were definitely there in the '90s. I think it's another case of Wikipedia being bollocks.

I hope so! BBC claims the blue ones came in around 1989.

Whatever, I remember the event. And they were a lovely vivid blue too. Actually, all the smarties were vivid (yay synthetic substances!) and I'm sure a lot more perfectly round / crisp than they are now.

I still miss the secret bar most of all. Not many folk remember it.

I definitely remember Secrets, they were tasty :)

I think they came in, then out, then in as I say. Blue ones probably did first come out in 1989 but then they returned about five years ago as I remember the "Blue Is Back" campaign.

Curiously I didn't know anything about that campaign.

But I do remember clearly walking around Tesco in Worcester when I must have been 9 or 10 or so - picking up a tube and really looking forwards to trying them :)

There was a definite campaign up here, as I remember being completely underwhelmed by it. Sadly though, this was contrary to when they first came out, when, like you, I was very excited about it.

I wish I wasn't old and cynical...

Lols, no, I bought them myself even though Wolfie was there and it was VD. Just saw them in a closing down sale and thought I am having those... :D

Hmm I feel the same way and I am only eating the pink ones. I wonder what would happen if we combined the different colours in different combinations. Could be like some sort of gay warfare thing going on...

They could all set up camp too (oh the puns!).

Hmm, gay warfare. Who would fight who though?

As long as I get an M1A2 Abrams with which to lead the column, I'm happy.

(though I would really prefer urban camouflage over something that would stand out like pink.)

Sooo...

How many of you have fired a gun before?

-crickets chirping-

WELL THATS GONNA CHANGE MAGGOTS!

As of now you are conscripted into the army.

or navy.

Eating pink smarties with pink hair and wearing pink panties eh?

Date: 2009-02-18 02:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com
My panties were green - wish they had been pink though as I could have partaken in an orgasm of pink. I feel I have missed out now :(

I didn't even realise/remember there was a pink smarty!

Still, they go with your hair :3

They do - I may make some beads out of Smarties and weave them into plaits in my hair for a chocolatey snack on the go :D

Only smarties have the answer.

From: [identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com
Have you ever asked a Smartie anything? If they do have the answer, they are keeping awfully quiet about it...

From: [identity profile] silent-o.livejournal.com
I never much cared for smarties, as I find them too chalky.

I instead worship chocolate.

-drools-

From: [identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com
You worship chocolate? In what way? Do you have an alter to the holy cocoa bean, brought by Spanish explorers who sacrificed their lives in pursuit of its holy grail?

They are a bit chalky - the sugar coating is not as good as I remember it :(

As to chocolate:

The goddess Chocolate is a fickle bitch. She cannot be ignored for long, or she will take her vengeance.

translation: I get really irritable without a chocolate fix at least a few times a week.
-

As to the Spaniards:

The Spanish Conquistadors were murderers. They raped, pillaged, and destroyed an advanced civilization in order to satisfy their greed.(all in the name of God, no less)

-

As to Smarties:

I'm not even sure we're talking about the same candy. The smarties I know have absolutely nothing to do with chocolate, and seem to be more closely related to those nasty little candy hearts with the words on them.

-scratches head in confusion-

From: [identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com
In England Smarties are a bit like M&Ms I guess, only slightly more flatter. They're sugar coated chocolate really.

Agree on the Conquistadors. Never been a big fan of chocolate myself. Have always thought it quite over-rated...
