If Saturday was horrible, then Monday was absolutely amazing. In fact, I would go as far as to say that yesterday was one of the best Mondays I have ever had. It was everything I needed - relaxing, fun, social - it truly was superlative.

Last night was one of those nights that was unexpectedly good due to the series of random events that befell us. It was one of those nights that makes life worth living - a general pub evening with good friends that descends into an unexpected adventure. It also demonstrated to me that I really should come to Leeds meets more often, as well as going out on a Monday night. The drunk quotient was low, as were the number of people in the pubs. Everyone we met was very friendly and all were having a good time.

I didn't wear my collar in the end, largely because I was wearing enough bondage stuff underneath my clothes that I thought it wouldn't be necessary. Turned out to be a good thing as I ended up catching the school bus into Leeds, which was chockful of delightful little secondary school kids being delightful. I am sure you can imagine. Still, a lot of them, for all their bravado, displayed basic manners and courtesy, which was refreshing to see. The journey into town was still a little uncomfortable though.

Having copped a £78.08 bill for a new mobile phone after I decided to wash my old one in the washing machine on Saturday, I was feeling rather fragile so I went to get a hot chocolate and a chocolate chip biscuit that tasted like powder from Starbucks. Not the most pleasant thing in the world but it passed the time before I met up with patter and shortfuse, a new fur who is just getting into the scene.

We met at the station and headed off to The Angel, a Sam Smith's pub that serves delicious Alpine Lager for ridiculously cheap prices (I think it was £1.66 for a pint). The Angel is one of those pubs in the backstreets of Leeds, down little alleyways just off the main shopping district. There we talked about politics, the ability of Calgon to get rid of anything furry (well it works for limescale in dishwashers) and the political works of Thomas Hobbes, the forefather of political philosophy. I must admit, I never thought I would extol Hobbesian philosophy at a furmeet but I did. It was nice to have the debate. The barmaid at The Angel said she was also going to open a gay pub called Cocks And Tails. I heartily approved this new venture.

Wolfie was kept back at work so he joined us a little later on, when I was already four Alpine Lagers in. Feeling peckish, we headed up to McDonald's. We had wanted Greggs but the 24 hour one was mysteriously closed. So McDonald's it was, where we stumbled upon a travesty - two people were having sex in the toilets and IT DIDN'T INVOLVE FURS. The manager of the store thought it was funny and we asked whether we could join in. We said we would pay but he was having none of it. Still, he was a really nice guy to talk to and we all had a good laugh. We applauded the rutting couple as they came out. I made reference to the fact that they definitely had had a Happy Meal, which the staff found particularly funny. Nice guys, great atmosphere.

We then headed up to a pub that is a boat in the middle of a roundabout, which seemed a silly place to put a pub. As it was freshers week, it was packed though so we went to a studenty type pub across the road called The Fenton (cue many texts to Fioxy along the lines of "We're inside you" and "We're peeing inside you"). However, on our way there, we saw a guy dressed as a giant kangaroo, bouncing down the street. He had a joey in his pouch, which I mistook to be an oddly-shaped penis and I started batting it with my paw. He got into a fighty mood (like kangaroos do - or indeed anyone when you start batting their genitals randomly in the street) and we had a bit of mock boxing in the street before we all huggled each other and made up. We then went into the student pub.

Here, I went immediately to the toilet where a haggard drunkard invited me around to his house to hear stories about his mother dying whilst two students, with cocks in hand, started telling me about how great the pub was (and how annoying the drunkard was) over the delightful aroma of stale urine and the tinkling sound of used urinal. It was a nice friendly atmosphere though and it was great to make new friends. The urinal is very much the water cooler of the average night out I find.

We were also invited upstairs to sample some local folk music from a local band. We were sold on the fact that there was a "fit Spanish chick" on bass, to which I asked the guy who had invited us whether there were any nice blokes there. Turned out the best we had was a middle aged balding bloke with a beard on keyboards. Still, the music was funky (not as in the fox, that would be weird) and it was a pound very well spent. I spoke to the band afterwards and they said that the gig hadn't gone too well. I admitted to them that the drums were perhaps a little loud but that I was impressed. They seemed grateful for the compliant. I particularly like the bango and trumpet accompaniment - it added a lot of the depth to the hippie-like music. Shame I can't remember the name of the band though (if indeed I was ever told in the first place).

After this, we headed back home, dropping Patter off at a Tescos along the way. There I bought cheese and roast chicken sandwiches, which we nommed on. A bemused but amused Shortfuse disappered off into his halls of residence (near the gorgeous giant grey clock building that is now Leeds Uni Admin Department) and I went to bed with Wolfie, one very happy wuff :-)
