Miscellany
Jul. 26th, 2009 11:49 pmThere are so many little points to make that I will scribe them in list form. I may write more in-depth reviews over the next few days.
1) I am finally back home after my Finland trip and then the 10th Anniversary London Fur Meet. Sadly there will be no more galavanting around the world for a while (EF aside) as tomorrow morning I start work again for the new football season - another ten month slog with little time off awaits. It also sucks that I have to work at least every other weekend between now and May :(
2) My friend's funeral has been scheduled for 11am on Tuesday. This one is going to be particularly tough as he was a close friend of mine and it will be hard to say goodbye. In fact, it's just going to be a hard day full stop, particularly as my friend's wife died 8 months ago and now he is burying his best friend too. Somehow I just have to get through all of it.
3) Coming back to the UK is always tinged with sadness, simply because of how much we Brits have to put up with. The Underground had 8 lines out of service at lunchtime today, my train up north was delayed for reasons unexplained and often I was confronted with drunk people being either aggressive or singing about how they were leprechauns in tuneless cadence. Not a lot seems to work in this country and compared to how the Europeans run things, we are a Third World state. It's shameful and embarrassing. As are some of our population.
4) I am currently listening to the album Plastik by Apulanta, which I bought in Finland. Apulanta are definitely one of the best bands in the world and this is one of the best albums ever written. Inspired.
5) The first batch of Finland pictures can be found here (courtesy of
jari). They were taken Monday to Thursday at Hiru's place and Jari's place:

I have about 2000 pictures from SE Asia and Finland that I took myself, that need ripping to my PC and classifying. As soon as I have done that, I will try and post them online somewhere. However, 2000 pictures is going to take a while - can anyone recommend a good service or application I can use?
