The Dictator
May. 24th, 2012 06:52 pmDespite not being a fan of Sasha Baron Cohen's stuff, The Dictator interested with me. And when Stray, Luna and Arcais said they were going, I jumped at the opportunity (particularly as Wolfie had planned to see Iron Sky), even if my workload almost prevented me from going.
Still got there through a combination of running, buses and profuse sweating before we bought uber cheap tickets through the magic of Orange Wednesdays and uber expensive popcorn through the magic of having a captive audience.
The thirty minutes of trailers - all for army related films for some reason - were as uninspiring and frustrating as ever before we got to see the main event. The film wasn't as satirical as I thought it would be, despite making some good points, and the plot was a little staid but it was an enjoyable 90 minutes of politically incorrect humour and I had a fantastic time. Wadiya was just Eritrea though and I didn't have a pink slush puppy despite everyone else indulging in some puppy time.
Afterwards we went to Frankie and Benny's for some surprisingly tasty food which wasn't as overpriced as it usually is. The abattoir smell of Bradford ambience was a little off-putting but the restaurant was a nice oasis away from it and chatting with friends is always good fun. Top Cat I think will be our next film - promises to be fun :)
