And It Barked Like A Pup
Apr. 16th, 2013 09:21 amLast Wednesday, Skavi, Avon and I went into Leeds as they hadn't yet seen the new Trinity project. I think they were quite impressed, Croc specifically with the Crocs store, as we wandered around looking at the shiny new shops. It's good to see after decades of decline, some regeneration in the North, even if it is confined to the major cities. Hopefully more investment will follow as I think there is a great deal of potential here that has yet to be realized.
Afterwards, we went to The Botanist, a hidden pub underneath Trinity and behind an old church. The range of ales and craft beers here is extensive and, while expensive, it was a great place to drink and have some food. The venue is bedecked like a potting shed and your food comes on seed trays, which was a nice touch. Their nibbles in particular were something special, roast potatoes and horse radish sauce instead of crisps for example. I had leek and potato soup (a fine combination) and their house burger (ditto).
We then went to BrewDog, where I'm very friendly with the staff having been there seven times since it opened last month. The range keeps changing, which is good for variety, and the staff told Avon and Skavi all about the beers in their friendly beardy way. I also got them to try loads of beer, which I think they enjoyed. I certainly did ^^
