It is very rare that we have a quiet weekend with not much planned so we are enjoying taking things at our own pace. Today has been a good opportunity to do all of the small jobs around the house which were needed - getting a new chest of drawers to replace some broken ones, doing the vacuuming and also working on a couple of projects that we have been putting off for some time. We also got the opportunity to sign up to Costco, where we got forty loo rolls and twelve kitchen rolls, which boosted my sense of accomplishment - seriously, the place is like a bulk buy treasure trove. We've also taken the bottles to the bottle bank, taken the labels off all of the beer bottles for our scrap book while I have also paid my credit card bill. So all in all a productive day, even if we did sleep in until 1:30pm as we decided to give our phones a break and turn them off overnight. We rounded it off with pizza from Domino's, again buying too much as their deals are far far cheaper than their individual pizzas. Now I feel fat and bloated, but at least we are having a relatively dry weekend on the alcohol front. After the last few months, we need it.
Sunday was equally quiet - Wolfie had Adia around and I headed out to Horsforth to pick up a few Geocaches. As Adia was late, I swung by at 4pm and had an hour long catch up with her before Wolfie drove her home. Wolfie and I then spent a few hours being kinky at the same time as he worked on his lab. All in all then, not much going on.
It has been quite a quiet week too all told, with the only point of interest being Tuesday's regular monthly coffee meet. Due to work, I didn't get down to Laynes until 5:45pm, when I was informed that they would be closing in fifteen minutes' time and they were only serving take away coffee. These new opening hours, which they had only implemented the day before, were going to cause us an issue and a few of the furs were already demanding what we were going to do after 6pm. Sometimes their impertance can be quite grating, but fortunately I did know of another independent coffee shop which opened late - 200 Degrees Coffee on Bond Street. This had opened after we had settled into Laynes, but I had always had my eye on it as they close at 8pm. Therefore, once we were turfed out of Laynes (with me wishing them luck as we left, which Wolfie thought was bitchy but was meant sincerely and genuinely), we all headed over to 200 Degrees. It's a shame we have to leave Laynes as it has been good to us over the last two years, but closing at 6pm is quite prohibitive for us so I guess we have no choice.
We ended up staying in 200 Degrees for another hour, with the furs being quite big fans of the place. The only fear I have is the potential lack of room for about fifteen of us, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. They're LGBT friendly and serve a great range of teas and coffees, so we are looking forward to being based there going forward. It is also convenient for food places, with us ending up in Trinity Kitchen after our beverages. I hadn't been here for quite a while and although the intention had been to go to Cabana (which has sadly closed down), I was pretty happy with where we ended up. There was a cheese concession which served toasted sandwiches so there was no competition for my custom. I had the Yorkshire Blue and chutney, which was definitely more jam than it was cheese, but the cheesy fries were exquisite and made up for the sub-standard sandwich.
It was also great chatting with the furs, particularly Basil and Meesh, the former I had only really begun speaking to at Pride the previous Sunday. Cosmo, meanwhile, had a rather large package. I was in one of my funny moods, making Meesh in particular laugh a lot, and after we had had our food, we decided to head to the Tetley for a pint. Meesh needed a wee en route, so we called off at Trinity, where she discovered the toilet was closed (a nice man at the bus stop actually told us this about ten seconds after she had left us, but we thought it would be funnier not to tell her). She ended up in McDoanld's and we split up, heading to the Tetley only to discover it was closed. I have no idea which way Meesh went as she took forever, but we eventually hooked up with each other in the Tetley car park before heading to the nearby Adelphi. There were only four of us - Basil, Meesh, Wolfie and I - and we had an enjoyable chat under a Victorian stairwell with a pint of Sierra Nevada. It was one of those really relaxed and enjoyable evenings and I would have happily stayed out longer had Basil not needed to catch a train. Alas, we only had time for one pint therefore, but with Wolfie driving that was fair enough too and indeed it wasn't until 10:15pm by the time we got home.
