I have finally managed to catch this on BBC iplayer and it was a bit of a slow burner for me. There were some very good jokes and some very cruel ones (the Richard Whiteley reference really was unnecessary). I can't get the suspicion out of my head that it was actually written by furries - the cultural and technological references indicate this, as did the whole fox pretending to be a human online reference.

The plot itself was well executed and well-rounded and there were some delightful pastiches, particularly the BNP-style fox on chickens. The satirical stuff, as well as the references to animal behaviour, were the definite strengths of the script. The characters were well-rounded, particularly the cute male fox character who was kinda adorable and the show definitely has potential to get better as the series develops. However, I also got the impression I was watching Family Guy with animals. The cutaway references, along with the humour, was certainly in a similar style.

I thought the swearing and some of the crudeness actually detracted from the quality of the show and I hope future episodes are more satirical and dark rather than peurile. The problem is that this is BBC Three so I hold my breath. Still, I hear there is an episode on Springwatch, which promises to be fantastic, and if they can do something on fox hunting as well then I feel that the show can get better and better. The show's strength lies in the political and cultural satricial references and combining this with animal references so hopefully they can run with this ideology. It will certainly be an interesting one to watch but it could go either way for me.

It reminded me very much of Family Guy with the cut-away jokes. For a pilot episode it was enjoyable, although far from epic - but I think it's got a lot of promise! There's heaps of scope for some really great gags later, but it does need more characters.

Finally someone who isn't just gushing over it!

I thought it was alright, good in parts, but not amazingly entertaining/funny, but everyone I know seems to be creaming their jeans over how amazingly good it is.

One fur on Twitter called it the best TV comedy for years!!

I thought it was OK, not great but not a waste of time to watch. Extremely crude, but not bad.

I enjoyed it which actually surprised me - despite the trailer looking fun I had some pretty low expectations. Agreed, tho - it suffered for the swearing and crudeness a bit but there were several extremely funny moments.

Good start for a pilot episode, I'm interested to see if they muck it up or right the ship. Hard to go wrong with the "Everyone Loves a Lesbian" song coming up. =p

Yeah, i watched the first episode too, i quite enjoyed it.

I was reminded of a few things, family guy, as you said, Frankie Boyle for the pidgeon and her twin towers reference.

What made me laugh the most though was the odd subtle joke, like the riverbank scene with the fox, chicken and grain, and only a two person boat.
