There seems to be a lot of it around.

Anyway this is my first entry on lj with my new iPhone - I am actually writing this on the bus and feel I have entered the technological age. Either way it should give me something to do during the tedious bus journeys to and from work. The problem is that the potholes on the roads make typing on a keypad extremely difficult.

Also as I am sat here, I realize how annoying most bus patrons are. If they are not smooching loudly they are talking inane drivel far too loudly on their phones, listening to music so loud it could deafen a dolphin or in the case right now some pillock is trying to break beat whilst his girlfriend is pretending to be a mildly aroused dog.

People are strange.

I thought about the Blackberry but it seemed far too professional for what I needed. Plus there are business reasons why I opted for the iPhone too.

I don't know what a Gamecenter handle is, sorry.

Blackberry built their reputation on rock-solid integration with enterprise e-mail (basically Microsoft Exchange). They had mobile e-mail years before anyone else; now everyone and his brother has push notifications of e-mail to their @aol.com address or whatever. There was a time when businesses paid top dollar for their employees to have that.

I'm not sure what they have to offer now, I fear that they might be threatened in this new ecosystem of mass-market smartphone ownership.

Perhaps. I thought about getting a Blackberry but decided it wasn't best for my needs.

Sometimes nostalgia is a good thing. Not in the field of technology though.

I don't mind certain people acting like mildly aroused dogs. ;)

You know, that iPhone of yours has been a revelation. You really have been posting a lot more!

Would you say that apart from the fact that it keeps you occupied on the bus, that the fact that there's only screen space for the app helps you concentrate? I think with computers these days, it's so easy to distract yourself because it's so easy to go from one thing to another. My theory is with the psychology of the smart phone, your app takes up the whole screen and your attention and swapping between apps takes a little more effort.
