When I was a teenager I vowed never to become one of those grumpy old people who seem to hate everything. Sadly, at the age of 28, I think I have.

A few things have highlighted this recently. Firstly my prudish, almost snobbish, attitude to public farting and burping - I have never found if amusing and I am starting to find it increasingly offensive rather than just a harmless natural act. Secondly my ridiculously low tolerance of fools, particularly irritants on the bus. And yesterday I caught myself reading the UK Singles Chart and wondering what has happened to music. I am becoming one of those duffers on that Grumpy Old Men programme, just with significantly more humour.

Interestingly, politically, I am becoming more liberal and socialist in my old age rather than right wing, which bucks the trend. But then I have never gone with the crowds. As I told Avon the other night - if the populace tend to like something I probably won't and vice versa. Odd really.

Anyway I guess it's just tiredness, overworking, stress and general grumpiness which is bringing me down, as well as a year of relentless travelling on public transport (which isn't helping). It's the first day of spring today so I should be feeling happy. Hopefully I will soon.

Ok, try this one then. Avoid cynicism.

I wouldn't say I am particularly cynical, certainly not as much as I used to be. Sometimes the greatest humour is borne out of cynicism.

Don't be that worried regarding music. This is such a common thing to happen. The music you grew up with and went crazy for in your teens is what we all feel is "the best music ever!". Anything afterwards just seems a rip-off/crap/bland/not good enough/insert more here. I still listen to lots of current music but avoid the Top40 stuff like the plague. :3

There is loads of contemporary music that I do like, it just never seems to get a look in. I don't know, I was never really part of any trend so why I am concerned about not being involved in current ones I am not too sure.

But it can be my best friend in a sexual way too, right?

You do seem grumpier in your posts in recent times. Sometimes unreasonably so.

Unreasonably? I'm not too sure really. I guess it's the overworked thing that's getting to me. It's my own fault that though.

I would recommend you take up gardening as a hobby like I have (though I've seen no sights of carrots shoots after a week damnit), but it is the kind of hobby that appreciates a bit of time dedication which you're probably short on with all the work. Plus I have no idea if you have a garden.

I don't have a garden, sadly. It's a shame as I have always wanted to grow my own fruit and vegetables. Perhaps soon.
