Road Safety With Superted

lupestripeDoes anyone remember the Road Safety Campaign from around 1988 when Superted taught us how to cross the road?
All I remember about it was Spotty forgot to look both ways and had to be saved by a flying Superted before a car nearly hit him. I think that both of them flew back to that wooden shack thing that they shared where Superted taught Spotty the basics of road safety.
I got the impression that like the Wombles before him (where kids deliberately left rubbish on Wimbledon Common in the hope of seeing a Womble), all Superted's campaign did was to encourage kids to stand in the middle of roads and hope they would be saved by the flying bear before a car had chance to hit them. Hey if that's what it took to meet the bear then I can see the logic.
