The last month has definitely been the best of the year so far and tonight was another fantastic furry occasion of mirth and merriment.
Finishing work early, I went up to Newcastle to see
psythu ,
marston , Han and Xen to celebrate Xen's birthday. We went to AMF bowling and I WON A GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!! Indeedy, it has only taken me nearly 26 years but tonight I managed a respectable 120, which was enough to win one of our two games. I even got a certificate and everything which says "AMF Congratulates Lupe for being the SUPERSTAR of the evening". And all this even though we spent most of the evening trying to score 9 instead of strikes and spares because my opening five bowls read like the nine times table :-)
It was great fun seeing the guys and we had an amazing laugh. Granted, I spent a lot of time wandering around Newcastle searching for Kevin Keegan (alas to no avail and to the absolute revulsion of the Geordie faithful) but I can confidently say that this last month has been the best I have had in a long, long time. Even the Wild Platters we shared (food is always best shared - even if it wasn't particularly "wild" unless you count the average savageness of a free range chicken) were delicious, particularly the BBQ sauce :-)
AMF bowling also have two cute characters as their mascots - mice called Bumper and Squeak. My heart always melts when I see such things even though I know it's just a marketing ploy to make parents buy over-priced products for their screaming kids. Still, the fact that Squeak's favourite meal is her very own pizza and that you could get a pink bowling ball with her image on it, made the day that even more special. I'm still regretting not getting that ball...
Hoping to continue the theme, I am looking at the possibility of hosting a mid-week Newcastle meet once a month. This will probably just be a casual drinking meet with perhaps some food thrown in, potentially at a different type of restaurant each time.
I am also thinking of running the first York Furry Teashop Crawl some time in October. It will probably be on a Sunday so if anyone is interested, please let me know :-)
