Paper Wolf

A couple of weeks ago a friend at work came into the office with a beautifully crafted swan made entirely from folded paper. I got talking to him and I asked him if he would make a wolf for me. He kindly agreed and I received it yesterday. Apparently it took him all of Saturday afternoon but it really is gorgeous. Check out the pic!

That's not what I meant. ^^

LOL - still, it's the best suggestion so far :D

*chuckles* I hope the poor wolfie won't end up with that as a name, though. ^^

Well it's certainly a front-runner - although I agree, it's more appropriate a name for a humming bird or something. I'm sure something will come to me :)

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. ^^ If I can think of something, I'll let you know, too.

Thanks hun - I'm sure something will come to me eventually - probably at a really inconvenient time like three in the morning. I've always been rubbish with names :(

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Keep a notepad next to your bed and write it down. :)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I have post-it notes in my draw next to my bed which I blearily stumble to at three in the morning when I have an idea. I did wake up last night come to think of it but it was only because I needed to go to the bathroom - so hardly my most creative moment.

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... but then, it's an issue that you can't force. :)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true but it was at the rather irritating time of 5.30am so I only had another hour's sleep afterwards before I had to get up anyway :(

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*noddles* That's annoying, yes...

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
*hug* Yes, indeed. I always hate it when it happens - fortunately, these days, I usually manage to avoid having to go at night at all. I just hate getting up when I want to sleep.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh this was the first time it's happened to me in about six months - most of the time it's fine. As you say it's annoying to be woken up in the middle of the night full stop (or indeed at 7am for work - which I still count as the middle of the night to be honest).

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
*noddles* So do I. c.c

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh why can't the work day start at a sensible time - like 1pm or something?

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
Because you'd only be able to leave work at 21:00. x.x

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true but in many ways I'd rather that than start at 8am. Having said that the inevitable would be that I would just shift my sleeping patterns and would be no better off within a couple of weeks.

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh the failings of the human psyche...

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Or the human body that needs so much sleep every day. (Seriously, what is it actually FOR?)

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Recuperation I guess - allowing physiological processes to slow down and to give the body (and mind) a breather. But I agree - life is short enough without having to spend a third of it sleeping - no matter how fun sleeping can be :)

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-23 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
*noddles* Yeah... it's rather annoying to look back at your life and say "I could be 20 now (instead of almost 30) if I hadn't spent 10 years of my life sleeping". c.c

[identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com 2007-09-23 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
I tend not to think of things like that though as you have to sleep - the quality of life in those 20 years would have been so bad had I not got any that I guess it's a compromise.

Also from that argument you could talk about time you spent on the toilet and the time you spent eating and drinking as being wasted too - it's a never-ending cycle.

[identity profile] schnee.livejournal.com 2007-09-23 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly true, but sleep seems so... well, unused. There's an obvious reason why you eat or use the toilet, but there is no immediately obvious reason why you'd need 8 hours of sleep every day. (I could understand something like 30 minutes, maybe, but 8 hours?)

Of course, you're also right insofar as that life without sleep wouldn't be fun, but that's just the point - it'd be nicer if we didn't have to sleep so that life could still be fun even without sleep. :) (At least *necessary* sleep.)
