lupestripeI had the misfortune of travelling from London to Nottingham on Friday on East Midlands Trains and I can categorically say they are the worst train company I have ever dealt with.
In the middle of the Friday rush hour, they had put on a short train rather than a long train. This meant that people were sat in the vestibules like dogs - in fact it was so cramped that I am sure the volume of people presented a fire hazard. For my £43, this was very poor form.
Added to this was that because there were too many people, they couldn't load the buffet car so there was no buffet facilities or trolley. There wasn't any wifi connection either when I did manage to get a seat.
I was sat with a guy from Saudi Arabia who confessed trains in that country were better than East Midlands Trains. I certainly know that the trains I got in Indonesia were certainly better than the one I got on Friday.
May I also add that the underground in Singapore is air conditioned, has trains that are not tatty (I know age plays a factor but the London Underground trains are appalling and could be better) and you can use your mobile phone on the underground too.
Also, I was high up on the Dieng Plateau in Indonesia and I could still get a mobile phone signal and update my Twitter by sending a text message. Why can't I do the same outside London Euston or in Doncaster, as has been the case over the weekend?
