Skawinski (who now works at the same place I do) and I got to the Real Ale Festival at 6pm after work to be greeted by a long queue. We waited in it for a while but conceded it wasn't going anywhere quickly. Taneli had already got inside but Avon had gone to Morley for some reason so was running late. Patter's bus had broken down and he was to join us later.

I ate my buns and a quick conflab ensued. We decided to head to a trendy wine bar we knew some 15 minutes walk away. On the way there though we were distracted by the Vietnamese-Thai restaurant again so we went in for some food. Their toilet is an outhouse which only added to the appeal and I had a nice Thai Green Curry which was slightly spoiled by the bits of pineapple in it. Service was slower but it allowed me to indulge in some George Osborne based comedy.

Afterwards we tried the beer festival again but with the queue still longer than an episode of OMG with Peaches Doo-Dah we popped into town on the late 72 bus which we sarcastically applauded when it arrived. On the way we watched Peppa Pig in Polish, I introduced Skawinski to the delights of Bebe Lily and we laughed at the Czech language. Vlak means guts indeed...

Spying that Mr Foley's Cask Ale House was dead - probably as everyone was at the Real Ale festival - we had a few nice pints here while watching rugby league. It was Huddersfield Giants v Wigan Warriors and we explained the rules to our Polish friend. There was a big fight going down somewhere as we saw loads of police units speeding somewhere before we all headed home on the last bus or train. Avon was a bit drunkified but then the drunks were good.

We are aiming to get to the Real Ale Festival early today as CAMRA members have priority entry and we are both off work. That's the plan anyway.
