Wolfie and I have just come back from seeing Ed Byrne's new show at Bradford's St George's Hall. Sadly, the auditorium was only half-full, making it difficult for Ed to build up some atmosphere but after a rather tepid first half, the second half exploded into life and was extremely funny. It was also great having room to sprawl in the theatre as we kicked back and enjoyed some fantastic comedy. He wasn't as good as when I saw him in Middlesbrough in 2008 and the topics were typically standard fare (family, marriage etc) but there was some genuine gold in the routine so I am glad we went to see him.

Indeed, it was a night which has partly restored my faith in British people as everyone we met was brilliant. The people watching the show were engaging and friendly, whilst we also chatted to a fascinating taxi driver on our way home who told us about his 22 year stay in New York City. Even the two Asian girls we started conversing with as we crossed the road were great to chat to.

After the show, we went for a curry at the International, another famous establishment in the heart of Bradford. The staff here were brilliant and extremely courteous, while my strawberry lassi was to die for. The curry itself had soft flaky meat and it was cooked to perfection. In fact, the only criticism I would have is that it was perhaps a little too salty, along with the naan.

A taxi home from Bradford is less than £10 - I really do forget how close we are to the place. It seems to be somewhere we need to explore more as it was an excellent evening indeed. And now we're all set for the Leeds Meet in the morning ^^
