Three hours sleep! How the hell I will function at work today I have no idea. Damn insomnia. Damn mind making me worry about inconsequential shit. And damn this snow for making me slip over on my arse numerous times already.

A combination of a late get up on Sunday and my neuroses has caused this. I suffer insomnia about once a fortnight but nothing to this level. I feel dreadful. Hopefully I can get through the day.

Here, we can get it at any drug store or supermarket. I don't know if it's available where you are, though. It might not be allowed to be sold, or it may be known by a different name.

Forgot to mention - melatonin works best in combination with valerian root (Valium, diazepam). Taking both at once knocks me right out. ^^

Is it easy to wake up from?

Oh yes. In fact, melatonin is the actual brain chemical that induces sleep in every mammal on Earth. Your own body makes it. What you buy in pill form is just an extra dosage of the chemical that your brain produces by itself. It's the most natural sleep aid possible. :)
