So I have gotten into My Little Pony.

I guess if you know me, this won't be surprising. Pink cutesy kids cartoon with talking animals - what's not to love? Furthermore, the characterization is strong and the storylines solid, plus it transports you to a world that is far better than this one. It's sweet, innocent and heartwarming, hence why I like it.

And hence why I don't understand the hatred it seems to engender in some people. Even Wolfie, who is hardly the fluffiest fur in the world, admits it's hard to dislike. Perhaps it's the fans rather than the show itself that people rail against but to hate it with a passion? It seems rather odd.

I have watched most of Series One now and I am really loving it. I see myself watching it over and over, but I doubt I will become a filly fledged brony. Still, I do have a favourite - Fluttershy (followed closely by Rainbow Dash) - so never say never I guess. Hey, perhaps I do have something in common with furs after all :P

I've got nothing against MLP per se, it's just not really my kinda show. What annoyed me about it was the fact that for the 2 months or so after it first came out, EVERYONE was talking about it and had MLP avatars etc. It was just impossible to get away from. I'm sure you encountered a similar experience with the whole Mongrels saga. :P

I honestly think that is one of the rudest things in humanity today; the way people will show no regard for hurting someone by slamming things they don't like even if the person they're talking to holds it dearly. Yet they will also waste no breath in throwing their likes in someone else's face, and woe betide them if they disagree. But I digress...

I'm glad you like MLP ^^ just please don't make me watch it next time I'm round :P

Yay!

I'd had a mild interest in My Little Pony beforehand, simply due to the cute designs, but what little I'd seen of the animations before FiM suggested writing by committee and the usual cheap'n'nasty 80s TV animation style - enjoyable enough just to see the characters moving, but not much more than that.

After FiM came out, people seemed to be talking about it, rather more widely than you'd expect. Eventually, I found a torrent with what turned out to be YouTube rips - only 480p, unfortunately, but just watching a couple episodes confirmed this was actually quite sharply written, with good comic timing, and adept use of Flash to achieve expressivity. I soon sought out 1080p copies, and found the full season, which I went through in about a week. ^_^

Oh, and it hardly hurts that the musical numbers tend to be annoyingly catchy, too, especially Winter Wrap-Up. =:D I'd love to see them come out with a fully musical episode!

And then, of course, there's the extraordinary showing of creativity that's gathered around the show, with all manner of remixes and covers of the numbers, original compositions, writing, and artwork. Really quite something to behold. ^_^

(Of course, what I'd wish for now is for Hasbro to take an active role in putting out full-blown box sets as downloads, Blu-Ray, and DVDs, with commentaries, soundtracks, everything. For now, though, there's S1 in 720p on the US iTunes Store only, no extras, and AFAIK, no other countries or media. Oh, and some big MLP plush, too. Some of the fan creations have been quite breathtaking there.. !)

I've only watched a couple of episodes, and I thought it was a pretty good show. I'd like to watch more, but I just haven't gone out of my way to view more episodes, hehe.

I think the rabid haters are more annoying than the rabid fans. I guess my thoughts are if you hate a show that much, just ignore it. (But then again, I don't always follow that advice myself. ;p)

Congratulations, the new My Little Pony cartoons are great! I'm rather fond of the kinetic animation and general humour, and you are naturally correct that Rainbow Dash is pretty cool.

Some neat-o costumes, too...

Funny, I was thinking of checking out this show and posted about it on my LJ just today.

Although I've been sent countless clips and fan-edits and mashups, I still haven't quite found the desire to sit and watch a whole episode... yet.

You seem to have misplaced Dashie in your list of favorites. She's clearly the best pony and followed by Twilight Sparkle. :P

I'm quite enamored by all the music the bronies have made. I really didn't expect to find pony themed Beatles covers/parodies or a cover of the Flash Gordon Theme by Queen rewritten to be about Rainbow Dash.

I do not hate MLP, I did think it was some kind of torture scheeme that the government had put together. (I am thinking of the nasty early stuff here, I do not know about the new series) Teletubbies was something similar, after a while ones brain went completlely numb. Perhaps it was some kind of age regression hypnotism thing.

There's that phenomenon of people being cool by hating what's currently and obviously awesome. Like when a universally well loved movie comes out, it seems like some reviewers can't wait to say how crap it is.

I watched the first 3 episodes while drunk - which I figured would enhance my enjoyment of them, however, even getting drunk wasn't enough to make it entertaining for me. That said, I don't hate MLP. It's just not my thing.

While I don't begrudge the series' existence, I have no interest in MLP and have no desire to ever watch it.
