Earlier today, we visited our favourite Eastern European store in Bradford with Patter to see what we could see. As well as stocking up on a load of brilliant beers, we also picked up some frozen cepelinai, which we have just had for our dinner. Cepelinai is a Lithuanian speciality and consists of a meaty filling surrounded by startchy grated potato pulp. These are then boiled until gloopy and served, in our case with baked beans because we like to marry different cultures and traditions in this house. They translate as Zeppelins as they are so shaped and, although very stodgy, they are also very filling and delicious.
Inspired by Alexfox last weekend, we have decided we are going to start home brewing. We have been looking at the kit today and have found a good starter pack which should allow us to brew 40 pints of delicious real ale in a month. This will be significantly cheaper than going to the pub and, if we get two or three different ales on the go, we could possibly start our own furry bar. I wonder what we should call it. We are both relishing brewing our own beer and feel it's going to be something fun on which we can work together. And, of course, the results will be very rewarding. Provided we don't muck it up.
