Last night was the 15th birthday party for the North Bar, Observer bar of the year 2009 and Puppy Bar of the Year 2010-12. North Bar has a nationwide reputation for the range of craft beers it sells and it is certainly my favourite bar in this country if not the world.

We headed down for the party yesterday afternoon to enjoy all 15 specially brewed beers for the occasion. These had come out one a day from June 16-30 but they were all there for the party. There were sticky ribs and a huge BBQ too and I'm glad to say Wolfie and I sampled all 15 of the brews. Most were high strength and very nice - aside from the sour limbic beer - and a great day was had. Some of the beer was frothy such was the nature of the beer and the pumps - which sometimes weren't compatible - but this was a minor deal in what was a great event.

Afterwards we even had fish and chips - in my case chips and mushy peas - which was an excellent way to end the day. Here's to another 15 years of North!!
