4 February 2007 is the anniversary of my very first furmeet. It was a hastily arranged affair (that was done in a very drunken state) but yep, I arranged my own little gathering in York. And from it I met two of my closest furiends - Fioxy and greyscar - and my future partner - Wolfie.
It was an amazing day that culminated in greyscar wearing his foxsuit and leading us around the streets of York, scaring all those salubrious types in Betty's Tea Shop. To be standing next to my first ever proper fursuit after six years of dreaming was awe-inspiring to say the least. Little was I to know that I would have one of my own a mere six months later. I felt like a kid in a sweet shop - or perhaps a wolf in a chicken coup - at that moment. Everything was new and exciting. And everything was furry!
I wore a jangly bell collar thingy and we had great fun chatting in Lendel Cellars, drinking, joking and scritching. That was pretty much it but from a situation where I was bricking it before I met up with everyfur, how welcome everyone made me feel has stood me in good stead since. Indeed it took me twenty minutes to pluck up the courage to go and speak to them - I spent most of the time looking in their direction, trying to act cool but secretly bricking it, whilst drinking my uber large bottle of Buxton. Still I'm glad I did and after using the time-old technique of making an arse of yourself within the first five minutes of meeting, I knew nothing could go wrong after this. And it didn't.
So thanks go to
greyscar,
lsfiox, Syren,
patter_snowfox and my own mate and master
wolfie_uk, for making my first ever meet such a success *hugs*

Date: 2008-02-05 04:29 pm (UTC)That day was immense and a good sign of things to come. I was (and indeed in many ways still am) in awe with the fandom and can't believe I have found so many good furiends here. I guess that's my own inferiority complex coming into play there though. The foxsuit walk was a fantastic way to top a fantastic day and hopefully we can do it again real soon :)

Date: 2008-02-05 04:27 pm (UTC)Sadly I don't think I will be able to suit at this meet - I have to be in London in the evening which will present a problem regarding transportation etc. I'll look into the possibilities though - I haven't suited since early December and I am missing it loads.
"Happy Anniversary!"

Date: 2008-02-05 11:53 pm (UTC)It sucks when you are too busy to do stuff like furmeets. It's so frustrating. Sadly my new job is quite like that, like the last weekend when I was in Manchester but had to get back to work early Sunday morning. Still, all that made me do was stay out all night, not sleep and do work in a half-daze. It worked surprisingly hehe.
