So it's busy busy time again - mid-August to late September often is and with Transfer Deadline Day this Friday, things are about to get even more frenetic. I've worked twelve straight days already but I like the challenge, as well as having targets to reach. The lazy summer meant work was starting to drag.

Next week's trip to the Paralympics will help too - we are going to see boccia at the ExCeL centre followed by a trip around the Olympic Park. We only have access to the park and none of the events, but not seeing it was one of my biggest regrets from the Olympics so I'm glad I'll get the opportunity to say I have been. We also have an all-day pass at the ExCeL so hopefully we can see more than just boccia too (a policy that sadly wasn't in place for the Olympics as we could have seen Greco-Roman wrestling had it been), plus we will also get to see tue delightful Alexfox who will be there on the same day.

Due to the last minute nature of this, we will only be there one day, next Thursday, staying the preceding night at a hotel which is remarkably one third of the price it was when the Olympics were on. I do feel we are lucky though, getting last minute time off work is never easy so at least we managed to do something.

So this means we will have seen four Olympics events and one Paralympic one, plus the Olympic Park. Not a bad haul considering our proximity to London and the general demand for tickets. My brother though had less issue - living in London and only needing one ticket every time, he saw seven Olympic events and will see a further five Paralympic ones, including the Opening Ceremony. Of course, living in London means he doesn't have to take time off work to do this, unlike the rest of us, which is obviously of benefit, plus being alone means getting a ticket is easier. We tried 300 times for the Olympics during its duration to no avail. Still, I'm happy with our lot.

I really ought to fetch HD versions of both opening ceremonies sometime. ^_^; It'll be most interesting to see how the UK fares in the medal rankings in the Paralympics.

(And can Atos just go DIAF? What incredible arrogance, sponsoring the Paralympics, at the same time they're trying to boot thousands off disability, on the most ludicrous grounds. Why no MPs seem to be taking any notice of this extraordinary injustice..)

I imagine ParalympicsGB is going to finish very highly in the medal table, possibly as high as second.

I think Atos are sponsoring the whole London 2012 package and that includes the Paralympics. They are an IT company who do more than the disability tests but this is where the focus lies. As arrogant as it may appear, it is the Government who are ultimately culpable rather than Atos, and I feel people's ire should be directed towards them. Having said this, it does seem grossly insensitive and it's understandable why people are angry about Atos's sponsorship.
