To say that this last week has been strange is an understatement. Some of the events since Tuesday have been beyond belief and they still aren't fully sinking in.

The one in particular is a friend of mine being arrested on Wednesday afternoon for getting hideously drunk and then having a fight with the window of a local pub. I got a phone call from the hospital at 5pm to tell me he was bleeding copiously and that he had just "escaped" from the ward. I got in the car and found him stumbling across the busiest road in town with his face covered in blood. It was like Braveheart only more pissed. He was talking to the cops (who had just pulled him over) and after I convinced them that he didn't need locking up, my friend and I took him home. However, he escaped once again, this time to the local newsagents, where I found him buying a bottle of gin. An argument ensued between myself and the proprietor of the shop because he still served my friend, despite him bleeding all over the stack of local newspapers on the shop counter and being more drunk than a toff on port.

Anyway, after being bled on I thought the best thing to do was take the following day off. This I did and I embarked on a five and a half hour round trip to Hull. Yes, I may only live 80 miles from the Yorkshire seaside town but the trains take nearly three hours to get there. Joy. Still I had my Bizarre magazine and my collar so hours of fun ensued.

I met [profile] iffriel and [profile] starpaw at Hull station. Iffy was wearing a particularly fetching red top and beard combo. Between the three of us we decided to go up to Princes Street as it was near where they lived and it has a unique vibe all of its own. The walk was good and we caught up on loads of stuff, it was a really interesting gander. On the way, we stopped off at the Yorkshire Bank where [profile] actively_lazy works and we tried to spy him counting the capitalist cash. Sadly, all we saw was some fat bloke with glasses who was bemused at the sight of three weirdos staring at him through the window.

After this we went to a Lebanese restaurant and it was delicious (the food in the restaurant, not the restaurant itself obviously. As I kid I learned that houses aren't made of gingerbread - the hard way). I had wanted to try something unique instead of the fast food chain places and this little cafe was amazing. I grabbed a Lebanese breakfast which was a vegetarian's dream. It consisted of warm halloumi, goat's cheese, bread, olives, humus and a fried egg. I would start my day that way every day if I could. Well, after yiff of course... :P

Anyways, by this time Tiger Tom and Tim, a fur who it was a delight meeting for the first time, had turned up and Tom even got his meal before us!! Grrr, darn meat eaters - but then his egg did look more like a lemon so yeys!!

We then checked out a local off-license that specialises in, well, pretty much everything. I bagged every single continental beer I hadn't yet tried (which, worringly, was only seven in the whole shop) before we went back to Iffy and Starpaw's pad. It was the first time I had been there and I am sad to report that they have rats. But friendly pet rats rather than the evil nasty Black Death carrying ones. Their names were Oak and Ash and they were rather intrigued with me, which was flattering. Thankfully we managed to stop Oak from climbing into my pants although it took an embrace from Iffy to stop Ash dancing across my nipples. All rather strange.

Spore was then the name of the game and it may have re-awoken my interest in gaming (as you may be aware I have only played two games since 1996). The concept, design and graphics of this game look immense and I may have to break my twelve year duck when it is released in September. It was great watching the demos and prototypes.

Finding out that Tom works in a bar that sells Mojitos and that he was working from 6pm meant that we simply had to go. Starpaw had also left by this stage to go to work too but he was replaced by Funky, who is considerably taller. The fox and I talked about a whole array of things (which we won't go into here) and again, it was great catching up.

It was Curry Club night in Tom's pub so I grabbed a curry and my first mojito - a mojito very kindly made for me by none other than my good friend Tom!! And then proceeded to tell everyone what it was for the duration of the evening: "It's a Mojito. No it's not a gay drink!!". Either way, I came a step closer to being my hero - Brian from Family Guy. All I now need to do is learn to lick my own crotch and I'll be there :P

We also spent a lot of time trying to find a fursona for Tim, suggesting more and more ridiculous suggestions as the evening went on (Iffy's idea of a racist zebra was probably the best). I also met a female fur who was very nice but whose name has sadly escaped me. Still, the burgeoning Hull scene is looking strong and it was great to catch up with everyone. I also asked Tom about the wine festival over and over. Sadly he couldn't tell me much about the specific wines he would be proffering but he did have a shirt on which said "sumptuous" and "dry" so I guess I couldn't argue.

Sadly I had to leave at 8pm to get my train home, accompanied with my now six bottles of continental beer. It was probably the most relaxed I have been in a long time, indeed it was a very happy day :-)

You have to be afraid of the vacuum cleaner too - and eat bubble gum and dental floss from the garbage.

Mo-ji-to!

I'm petrified of the vacuum cleaner, it goes all whoosy and makes my ears hurt *whimpers*. That's why I use a brush...

As for the bubble gum and dental floss from the garbage, I think I'll pass on that one...

It was gorgeous, I love trying cuisine from other cultures and I'd never tried Lebanese cooking before. Okay, I had had all the constiuent parts (a fried egg isn't particularly Lebanese after all) but the dish was putting them all together (like cooking so often is) and it was fantastic :)

It's always good having a lesbian breakfast I find but I couldn't eat a huge portion...

Yiff you say, you intrigue me. And where do the lesbians fit into all this?

The female fur in question is Maj (Majestic).

And i'm sure Dean (The fat guy with the glasses) was busily making fun of you three at the same time you were staring at him. :P

Thanks for filling me in oh funky one. I must admit Dean looked a little perplexed with us bouncing up and down at the window and staring at him. I think he was just praying that we wouldn't come in and disturb him. Poor Dean. Plus he looks a bit like the guy from the Nationwide advert...

Is he Proud to be Different? For a laugh, do you ever recreate the Nationwide adverts with him or would he hit you if you did that?

It would have been great to see you too hun but I understand that you were working a nightshift on Thursday/Friday, making things difficult. The other thing is that the day was only fully arranged at 10:30am on the Thursday morning (and only mooted the previous Monday) so I didn't have a lot of time to plan stuff. What with my increased time off as of a fortnight's time, I will be back down your way at some point in the near future and if you are at Manchester, I will see you there too :)

Hmm I wonder why the Aberdeeners (what is the collective noun for a group of people from Aberdeen?) don't like Lebanese food. It's near to Angus I guess, home of the cow? I dunno, perhaps we should start a Lebanese restaurant in Aberdeen together. We can serve fried eggs and halloumi all day :)

I hope so, I had a real great day and it was great catching up. Thanks for having me and for entertaining me too.

I love that outfit, it really does suit you and I like the virbrance of the red. Definitely one for a furmeet in my opinion (although I'm about as fashionable as Ann Widdecombe so don't necessarily take my word for it).

*spits out his port in shock*

Why was I not informed of this adventure to Hull!?
Oh, right, school >.>;

Date: 2008-05-19 12:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lupestripe.livejournal.com
I was going to let you know but then I realised that you would either be a) at school or b) revising and so probably couldn't make it at such short notice. I only finalised the trip at 10:30 that morning so it would all have been really short notice. Next time I am in Hull though, hopefully you will be finished your exams and I will be far more organised. It would definitely be great to meet up then *hugs*

And port?! Why are you drinking port?! It's horrible. Sherry is far better and it's far more appropriate at this time of year, don't you know...?

Bizarre in neither a good way or bad way. Just a bizarre feeling of paranoia I guess you could say.
