Last week was a rather stressful week, so it comes as little surprise that this weekend was predominantly one of drinking. The torturous maschinations of the Brexit process started to take their toll and by Thursday, I just wanted to go out. Conveniently, it was little Brewdog's sixth birthday celebrations so they had a special mango stout on tap, giving us an excuse to go out. Wolfie is having issues at work right now - issues that seem to be coming to a head - so he welcomed the distraction too, meaning that we decided to grab a few drinks on Thursday night. This was also an opportunity to try a few new bars - Craft Asylum and Avenuehq on East Parade - the latter of which being a bohemian environment on the ground floor of an office block. They did excellent foccacia pizzas but the range of beer wasn't too grand, compensated at least by the excellent selection at Craft Asylum over the road. Owned by Saltaire Brewery, this is their second venture in the city and I must admit I quite liked it, not least because they served hot salty popcorn as a freebie too. We then headed down to the new North Bar on Sovereign Square, seeing a couple of work colleagues there as it turned out, before ending the evening in Brewdog sampling their rather strange birthday beer. It was quite a good night and a great opportunity to discuss our current situation, particularly regarding Brexit and our shared dissatisfaction with our current workplaces. Things are a little clearer now, but we are largely awaiting political developments.

We were out again on Saturday with the Leeds Meet - the weather being so atrocious that we were confined to indoors. Still, at least we managed to organise some fursuit games again, while the meet was well-attended considering the wind and the rain. It was great seeing the usual crew again, I must admit. I had a bit of a negative wobble at around 3pm but soon picked myself back up again, enjoying much of the rest of the evening as we headed to both Brewdog bars on account of Viper wanting to get their visa stamped. Viper and Seadragom were due to stay at ours overnight, and this is what we did, heading back at around 10pm just to drop our stuff off before heading over to The Manor Inn for a final pint of the evening. We then discussed a range of things while Viper played the guitar, with me feeling a little envious as to his talent. Indeed my own guitaring is proving a little frustrating now as I feel I have hit something of a plateau, not aided by the fact that I don't have an awful lot of time to practice these days.

We woke up quite late on Sunday, heading to Cafe Barthez for brunch shortly after noon. I had a Small Breakfast which was pretty humungous and we enjoyed watching the TV, which was on a music channel giving a rundown of the 'top 20 cartoon capers of the 90s'. Alas, many of the videos they showed barely had any animation at all and two of them were not even from the Nineties so I smelled some bullshit. Still, it did grip us somewhat, meaning we stayed here far longer than intended before we showed Viper and Seadragom around Pudsey. After this, we went home and utilised the upstairs facilities for a while, playing until we needed to head back into Leeds to ensure they could catch their trains. En route, we decided to stop off at Bundobust for some dinner, with Wolfie and I opting for their Combo For Two meal. I hadn't had such a range of food from them before and it was absolutely exquisite - a definite winner. There were also some great beers on tap too - a blackberry sour and Cloudwater's Light Lager, one of the finest of this type I had ever tasted.

While going into Leeds on the bus, I had spoken to Yunas and eventually ended up inviting him out to join us. He came along at around 8:15pm, with Viper's train due half an hour later. Still, at least they got chance to catch up a little bit before heading back to the station. Viper left, Seadragom and Yunas grabbed McFlurrys and then the dragon headed back to York, leaving just me, Wolfie and Yunas left. Part of our intention to come into Leeds yesterday evening was to go to Brewdog's St Patrick's Day tap takeover so we decided to make our way to the little bar. As it turned out, they hadn't had any beers delivered so we moved up to North Street, who had only had three of the seven they were promised arrive. They were quite unhappy about it, but I guess this meant we didn't overdrink as we sampled the trio alongside the 2019 version of Paradox Islay. I then spotted a barley wine combination involving Fierce and Tiny Rebel so I had to get that too - a cherry and vanilla barley wine which was exquisite as it sounds. We then headed home, separating off from Yunas at the top end of town and getting back shortly after 11pm in preparation for another working week.
