My birthday yesterday went as well as it possible could have done, considering the circumstances in which we are living. I had planned to invite a number of local friends over to the Brewdog taproom for some beers, but with the bars closed throughout November, we had to stay at home. It was due to be Collabfest week and we haven't missed one since the very first iteration back in 2013, so I was gutted when I realised we would likely miss out. Brewdog had quickly organised some Collabfest at Home packs you could buy at the online store, but these happened to be UK delivery only. Fortunately, there were a few Berliners on the Forum who enquired about getting them here and as the demand was so high, Brewdog kindly delivered 25 over to the Mitte bar. We could reserve these in advance, so Thursday evening saw me walk the one hour from my home to the bar to pick up the box. While there, I also managed to get a growler of their own brew on tap too, meaning we'll try at least 13 Collabfest beers this year. This is nowhere near the 48 we tried last year, and I was a little down to see UK friends partake in ways we couldn't, but it was amazing just how buoyed this made me feel.

These positive vibes were carried into Friday. I started my birthday early, going for a walk and speaking to our sales guy about the forthcoming exciting opportunity heading our way. On the way home, I called in at the bakery conveniently placed next to our front door to pick up a few pastries to act as birthday cakes. I then did a little bit of work before finishing early, enabling Wolfie and I to do a little bondage before we ordered a pizza from Domino's. This was nowhere near as good as the UK equivalent, and quite pricy too, with the aoili dip far stronger in garlic flavour than their sweeter garlic dip variety. Still, with the Collabfest drinking already in full swing, I wasn't too bothered and the size of the thing at least meant we didn't enter the evening bloated.

I was delighted to see a birthday card from my father turn up, as well as a Christmas card from Taneli - our first post from friends and family since relocation to Germany. We then chilled a wee while drinking some more Collabfest beers ahead of Gothicat's rock and metal set. This had a birthday theme, and it was great to hear her play my requests, while afterwards, Wolfie and I streamed the excellent playlist she had sent me a few days earlier to celebrate my birthday. She had asked me some favourite songs, bands and genres, and had mixed all these really well. It was also great being on Mixcloud with everyone last night as her DJ set was going on - it's a great community there. It was also great to read the many happy birthday messages from all my friends on Facebook and Twitter - there must have been over one hundred and it certainly made a girl feel special. I had a similar feeling when wearing my skull gothy dress once again, and am now resolved to buy more feminine clothing later next week.

The good vibes stretched into today, although I must admit it has been the strongest day of doubt so far about the move over to Germany. I think it relates to Wolfie and I having had to do our Anmeldung registrations separately, meaning there is more risk one of us may not be able to stay long-term (although I think this is partly motivated by the fact I haven't quite got my own personal situation sorted yet). I started the day with a brisk walk in the cold autumn sunshine before heading back home via the bakery once again to pick up donut. We then settled down for the Leeds Meet, which was an incredibly enjoyable experience. The conversation bounced around all over the place - from the price of tea in Germany (extortionate) to bras to politics - while Tonks's quiz was far stronger, with a greater focus on general knowledge. There were six participants and I won it by five points, scoring 18 out of a possible 30. It was then back to the conversation, having an in-depth discussion about LGBT rights and British politics before our second pizza of the weekend was delivered. This was from a more traditional Italian pizzeria and was better than Domino's, although they weren't stingy with the rocket and they hadn't cut the damn thing. Still, it has been good getting to know a few new takeaways.

I suspect tonight and tomorrow will be usual affairs, with Stray's Jackbox event tonight and Sunday being punctuated by Pony Chat. I'll likely go for another lengthy walk beforehand while I now know a few furs who are within walking distance of me so I may try and hook up with them at some point. Meanwhile, we have started to form a small hiking crew which we can look to action once lockdown restrictions have been eased, although it is likely that these are going to be extended deep into December. There should be an annoucement of this on Monday.
