Sir Geoffrey Geoff-Geoffrey

It's been another busy week sorting out my tax return, working in general and also contributing to my business. Things seem to be colliding all at once again, but I am hoping I can break the back of the work this coming week and then enjoy the Easter Weekend. With three of the four days looking sunny, I am aiming to get out and about, but I guess we will see what happens.
Thursday was the usual Fureigners Meet-Up, which again took place in Brewdog Friedrichsain. Unbeknown to me was that there was Drag Bingo going on, which I found strange as it combines one thing that is popular with old people with another that is definitely not popular with old people. It took place on the downstairs floor and as we had booked a table on the upstairs floor, it didn't affect us too much. I prefer being seated downstairs to be honest, the seating arrangements are better and it's nearer to the bar, and around one hour in I started to become overwhelmed and I needed to cower in one of the toilet cubicles for a while. Fortunately, my anxiety swiftly passed, with speaking to Fiasco helping. While I was doing this at the top of the stairs, an inebriated rock and metal roadie spied my unicorn Death Metal T-shirt and asked whether it was for real. Upon convincing him that it was, we ended up having a nice conversation for a while, before my attention was diverted elsewhere.
We did drink a fair bit on Thursday, which necessitated a trip to McDonald's for double cheeseburgers then the Spati for wasabi flavoured crisps, so Friday was something of a struggle. We were due to go out with Snowi though, as we had been tempted to try Restaurant Breslau in Prenzlauer Berg. This Polish restaurant was a place she had wanted to try for a while, so it was great to accompany her. She brought her friend Kittehbit along, who it was great to meet, and we had a pleasant evening. The lightning was ambient and the place reminded me a little of the much-missed Ambrosija in Bradford. Like that place, this place was very popular with Polish people, which was a good sign. It was cash only, as most places seem to be in Berlin, but I had thought of this before we arrived. The Żur Śląski was deliciously sour and smokey, while the Pierogi Ruskie were everything you would expect, so warm and comforting. Wolfie ordered Kotlet, expecting something else as he ended up with schnitzel. This too tasted nice but I think he wanted something a little more Polish. We had the standard Tyskie beer as we were expecting to hit a few bars afterwards, but Kittehbit had driven and Snowi had the delight of rail replacement bus services to deal with, so they headed off once we had paid. We did hang around for a good while chatting in the restaurant, but by 9:30pm we were out. We walked past Birra and checked out Braugier, but both were rammed and Wolfie and I really only wanted a quiet drink, so we made our way back home and ended up being in Spandau by 11pm. We got back far earlier than we had expected. It was a great night, but Snowi's opposition to the gambling industry, albeit justified, really hit hard about the doubts I have concerning my current job. Her issues don't directly relate to what I do, but I have made it no secret that I want to go back towards sports journalism than what I am currently doing. Even admitting what I do is embarrassing, although the informational content I am editing right now is all rather benign. I'm just hoping I can see it out for the next couple of months and find a new job in the meantime.
The weekend has been spent writing predominantly, while Wolfie has largely been gaming. This evening, though, we ordered a takeaway and enjoyed a Zoom comedy gig by Matt Green. For only £10 (thus £5 each), the two-hour performance was brilliant. Had we still been in Leeds, we would have definitely gone to see him at The Wardrobe, so it was great to get the opportunity to see his live show. The first half was his Tory MP character Sir Geoffrey Geoff-Geoffrey while the second half was his own stand-up. As it was Zoom, it was much more interactive and we were encouraged to have our cameras and microphones on. Alas, we had ordered the burgers, so I didn't think he would want to see us eating. This meant we did miss out on some of the interaction and I was very tempted to put on my fursuit for the second half, but thought better of it. I did tweet him prior to the gig though, which he liked, while helping another of my favourite YouTubers, Geoff Marshall, spell Dunfermline for one of his forthcoming graphics have been amongst my highlights of the week. It was also good to spend some time with Wolfie. Now that we are not sleeping together, I am starting to miss him, and I thought an evening together would be fun. I am hoping that once he gets his dizziness sorted out - he saw a Brexit-hating neurologist on Tuesday who gave him some exercises to help ease his inner ear trauma - he'll be back in the bed again.
