Social Bookmarking Links

Does anyone have any experience using social bookmarking links such as Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit etc? How do they work and how does a website become prominent with them?

I have registered a few websites with these facilities but whatever I do, I cannot get any links to appear in their databases. Can anyone help?

Hard-coded and checked thoroughly.

It just means you might need to manually make posts about things on Digg and such to be able to link them on the bar, I'll have to do some googling.

Twitter: Create an account, put a link on every news story to the follow me url on Twitter then post every new news story as a url on your twitter.
